Hi!  Great site from what I can see on the demo.  Talk about a newbie!  I'm about as novice as you can get.  I just downloaded the software.  It's zipped on my desktop and I'm not quite sure what to do from there.     ??)

I've never uploaded software onto my server before....that's how new I am.  Are there some directions for uploading the software?  Maybe I should unzip it first, eh? I'll probably be taking Justin up on that $25 offer to install it...but not before I first beat my head bloody against the wall trying to figure it out myself.

You'll probably see a lot of me in the tech support threads...   :)

I looked around your forum before I signed up and love the environment and people.  Awesome site.  Wonderful community.

Look for FTP client.  Justin made a sticky somewhere.  Just do a search for FTP and there should be some instructions.  then goto http://www.blahdocs.com to find instructions on where to put everything

Do you have any upload experience?  I would first recommend using SmartFTP to upload the files.  I kind of recommend an older version of SmartFTP, the latest isn't that great for newbies of any sort.    :(

Next, follow the documentation at http://www.blahdocs.com.  The new install documentation is there.  SmartFTP really does a lot of the work for you (by uploading the files in ASCII by default).  After that, just CHMOD files (per documentation) and run Setup.pl.  Of course the documentation goes a little bit more in depth with it all.   :)

If you get stuck, let me know.  If you want me to install it -- that option's always there.   8)

All I can say is, "WOW!"  By 2:30 am, I had my bulletin board up and running!  What great software!  Thanks to the team that put this together!

As I said, I am so new to this I had to look up and study "FTP."  I did find a reference to the blahdocs site and followed the instructions for a new install.  I found and used FireFTP which works with Mozilla's FireFox and was pretty simple once I read some instructions for that.

I love the control that the administrator has of the site.  There are so many great features.  Really a top shelf product.

The application I'm using it for at the moment is for my church's volunteer position postings.  We are building a system to advertise volunteer needs (as well as staff positions) to our congregation.

It's currently on my own site as I experiment with test data at http://www.mytwocentsonline.net

and guess what... I can't figure out how to load it!  :)   I don't know what the path is and it's not on my navigation bar.  Okay.  I'll be back.  Have to run to a meeting now.

Again, thanks for all your help.  You folks are the best!

I use FireFTP as well, easy and affordable :)

Your forum is located at: http://www.mytwocentsonline.net/cgi-bin/forum/Blah.pl

Note that if you wanted to use mod_rewrite you could change the path to whatever you wanted.  Most people would prefer something like the following: http://www.mytwocentsonline.net/forum/

Note that you can find instructions to do so at blahdocs.com as well.

Hope this helps
