E-Blah Community / Forum Updates / Password Encryption and Saving Admin Settings
Posted by: Justin, October 30, 2007, 2:26pm
I have just found a serious bug in E-Blah that is causing some versions to change the encryption settings to "Not Encrypted". Administrators that are still logged in with SIDs enabled will probably still be able to access everything fine; HOWEVER, users will not be able to login.
At the moment I cannot fix the issue on EBlah.com (so no one can login right now) because I forgot the password to my account.
To fix it, edit Settings.pl and change "$yabbconver" to 1. If it's set to 0, it will not work.
Sorry for any problems this may cause, I plan on looking deeper into it soon.

It should be fixed here, and everyone should be able to login fine again.

Hi Justin...
been trying to contact you for a few days. i implemented this fix a while ago. it worked for a while... then all of a sudden, $yabbconver was reset to zero.
Is there anyway I can fix this?

Change it back again, I have not had time to look into that yet. I'll try to do so shortly, though.
It's a bug with changing settings, and I'm not sure which setting is causing that to change.

Get the latest nightly, and then make sure in Settings.pl the value is changed per this message.
