I've installed this mod on my forum. The install seemed to go ok (no error messages). However, instead of showing the button it just says "Insert Media." When I try to use the tags it shows space like there should be a video, but no video.

I just updated to the latest nightly (10.3) Could that be my problem?

The mod was developed for 10.2.5 so it could be. Did you un-install all mods before upgrading?

Yes. It was doing the same thing before I upgraded, so I uninstalled it. Then I upgraded and that fixed most of my issues, so I reinstalled it.

Hi chums,

I've used Yabb for a while but I have now come back to Eblah because the media mod didn't work for Yabb. Now I have installed EBlah and installed this media mod and it doesn't work here either. ????

It installed ok, no errors or anything but like the thread starter here it just comes up with a blank page when I try to insert video. Any help for this would be greatly appreciated.

Ok so now it's working but it only shows Youtube videos? Like the Yabb one.

Is there any chance this can be made to work for Firefox? The media player with an mp3 works for IE, but just shows a big fat nothing in Firefox  ::)

Download the attached, unzip and upload to your site in ASCII

thank you as always martin. it now plays the audio, but there are no controls for it. To be honest i think the target audience is going to be IE only, but you just know there will be someone.... :P

i've been having a fiddle. i found the embed sound mod, and have butchered the 2 together, so now if it is an mp3 it plays in the flash doodad that the embed sound mod used... if that makes any sense at all?

anyway i've attached the file i modified....

I get the controls on my test site with Firefox, try downloading the plugin here:

Make sure you upload the mod in ASCII only, it has to be ASCII mode and not automatic.

Hye Martin thanks, was set on auto. I made it go up in strict and it has worked.

Should I update the Media.pl file from this thread

or leave it.

Regards.

Yes as this works with Firefox and the other is IE only.

I'm not sure if this is possible, but have you tried using a flash-based player for music files?

Like this one:

http://www.ministrytalk.com/church/lwwc/play/370/

It's free, and I like it pretty well.  I was thinking you could possibly do something like:

[sound]http://sound.mp3[/sound]

or even multiple files (play list):

[sound]sound1.mp3,sound2.mp3[/sound]

Or

[sound]sound1.mp3
sound2.mp3[/sound]

I installed 10.3 and reapplied the 10.2.5 Media Mod, and it works the same.

Of course, "your actual mileage may vary."

All the best,

Where on the forum should this be uploaded to?  I uploaded the unzipped folder labelled media_7611 to the mods folder in cgi_bin, but when I go to the modification center in Administration it isn't there.  Did I miss a step, am I uploading the wrong thing, am I uploading to the wrong place?  (Yes, I uploaded in ASCII)

Not sure where you downloaded from but the original has an install.txt

I've attached it.

Oooh, thank you!  However, now I have a bigger question.  I downloaded from Reply 9 in this thread--but what I downloaded ONLY contained the medial.pl, and didn't have media.v2m or media.png--or the install text.  Is the complete version posted somewhere and I missed it?
