E-Blah Community / News / E-Blah 10.05 Released
Posted by: Justin, August 31, 2006, 10:55pm
Due to several issues found in E-Blah 10.0 (which were quickly patched under "10.0"), I have decided to release a new version number to ensure everyone is up to date with the very latest core package.
If you have already installed or upgraded to version 10.0, all you will need to do is replace Blah.pl and all of the Code directory.
If you have any questions or have any problems, feel free to leave a message here!
Download E-Blah 10.05Anyone who
paid for an upgrade or install to E-Blah 10.0 is eligible for a free upgrade to 10.05. However, you must e-mail me your FTP information. Only those who paid for an upgrade or new install is eligible. For those who would like my to upgrade their forum to version 10.05 and did not have a paid upgrade, may do so by
clicking here.

BIG QUESTION:
For those, who already have upgraded 10.0 , and only upload the Blah.pl and /Code,
Should also run the Setup.pl, or ONLY upload the files ?

In the index.pdf for installing, under the upgrade, step 5 - rebuild things, you have a Note about editing the template.css file with a for adding new styles. I am not able to access that link in the pdf reader. Do you have a URL I can use?
Thanks,
-- Prof --

Hmm,
I'm confused... Doesn't take much mind... just done all the upgrades (well about to patch to .05) but for some reason... my buttons don't look right (they are the standard i.e jobbie), and they are aligned centrally. I have added the new CSS coding in.
Cheers,
Michael

I was/am running version 10 after upgrading from 9.x. I did as you said, to upload just the Blah.pl and Code directory. When i go into the admin portion of the site, I still have the 'your version is out of date'.
i tried rebuilding the board but it still says i'm running at version 10.0. is there another step i'm missing?

Huh?
See below. The buttons for posting messages are the standard browser job. I am SURE they were not like this before (www.ado16forums.info) is the affected site.
Furthermore, my account on here seems to have PM messages in it that have nothing to do with me. Users sending FTP details etc....
Might want to look into that one...
Cheers,
Michael

Over writing Blah.pl shoul be it. Some servers do not over write correctly so try deleting Blah.pl, re-upload and chmod to 755.

These are very old pm's when there was a glitch, just delete them ;)

I've tried deleting the Blah.pl and Code directory and am still getting just version 10.

Your forum isn't Blah.cgi is it?
austin_1100 ... if you add the CSS stuff (reply 8 of the 10.0 release thread), it'll fix it for you.

Tried adding that... Not made any difference at all.

Once you add it, clear your cache and refresh.

Tried that as well... still no good :(

This css:
seems to override all instances of:
If an cell in the core eblah wants to be right aligned should it not use:
|
Code
.right {
text-align: right !important;
}
|
|
Love the new features :)

Couple of thingss I've just noticed on first look at my upgrade.
- Go into Member List, sort by Member Group. Even hidden member groups show on this page.
- In the portal the last action column is centred - looks all wrong, needs to be left aligned using the class tag.
- Once I've setup my portal in the admin, I cannot rearrange the order which the modules are displayed or delete any of the modules. They do drag and drop nicely, but dont actually save in that formation.
Also I read somewhere on here about some stats graphs, where are they? I havent found/got them yet :-/
As usual great work Justin & Co; just thought I've bring these bits to your attention as I find them, if they've been overlooked or I've setup wrong, just trying to help :)

I installed Eblah 10 when it was first officialy released, ( within the first day or 2 anyway ) I havent patched it or anything, will just uploading blah.pl and the entire core directory from Eblah 10.05 have me all up to date? again I never did any patches to v10, and it was a clean install not an upgrade :)

The Stats can be turned on ( or added to the portal display ) by going to admin/portal setup

I think Admins can see the hidden groups.
Yes, all you need to do is do what the first post says in how to upgrade. :) Simple? Definately. ;D

I am having serious problems with my upgrade
In my portal, my screen froze, and i have ended up with about 4 latest thread sections on my portal in different places, and it wont let me delete any of them.
Also the avatars are not staying at the top anymore, they are moving down as the message gets longer and longer.
my scrolling news at the top of the forum is now on the left whereas it was always in the middle.
most of my forum now seems to be left and not centred as before
i have the latest version of 10.5
my forum is at
http://www.mattgossforum.com if anyone wants to have a look at what i mean. If anyone can give me advice i would be grateful.

The problem with the alignment issues are because of <td align="right"... or <td align="center"...
to fix it you have to edit your template and do this for example if you have:
|
Code
<table>
<tr>
<td align="center">Some Text</td>
</tr>
</table> |
|
Change it to this:
|
Code
<table>
<tr>
<td>
<div align="center">Some Text</div>
</td>
</tr> |
|
</table>
You could also do some stuff with css, but this is a quick and easy fix:)

Check this thread out:
http://www.eblah.com/forum/m-1156212220/#num8It explains what you need to do to fix the alignment issues.
As for your portal issues, try using another browser to fix them or delete PortalSet.pl.
alignment seems ok now
but if i delete portalsetup.pl what will happen
will i need to just redo it again from my admin section and reset it up again

Hey Nat
I jumped in and done template and css as I still had the login details from when I helped you out on that site many moons ago.

I'm still having problems with alignment issues...
It's a shame because all the other features are cool.
How can I sort it out? I've used those styles and they still don't seem to be working correctly.
Cheers,
Michael
