Hi all !
I'm a total newbie to this and haven't got a clue what I'm doing ! My forum is now up and running (thanks to Justin) but I wandered if it possible to add arcade games. The reason I ask is that my wife plays them (all the time) on a forum she uses and I must say the games (although quite simple) are very good and very addictive. It even shows which member has the highest score etc so they compete for the top scores. If you want to see what I mean the site she uses is
http://www.santosha.co.uk/forums/index.php? but I believe the program is from
http://www.ibproarcade.com/index.php I read a little on their site to see if they would work on eblah but they only refer to Invision and vbulletin forums. Any ideas ? Would this be possible ?
Thanks in advance

I'm sure Martin or someone can figure this out. I believe most of the games you can modify them to keep score easliy.

I do have games on a site but it's not as sofisticated as the example given. Basically you can just play games. I will look into whether it is possible to keep scores etc but not promising.
Anyone wanting a quick game:

cheers Martin,
That forum with the games works really well as members compete with each other which just adds to the fun - the first thing my wife does when she logs in is check to see if anyone has beaten her highest score !
I think if we could have something similar on our eblah forums it would be great. ;D

Yes, could be great fun with members competing with each other on Space Invaders! Perhaps even have a 'Top Score' in the same area as Forum Statistics. (So that no one cheats!)

Would an arcade mod be possible on the new 10 version when it comes out ?

Thts great idea. Defpo needs to be able to compete and have ranking and tournuments. I have played on IPB boards n its great. That would sum up Eblah to me. Now u are making it XHTML plus if we had games wer we can compete would be awsome.
Hpefully u gus can sort sumthing out.

It'll be easy to mod now, but it depends on if we can get people who WILL mod it.
The member database is extremely easy to modify now, and is also well documented.

looks like this is possible for some who has the 'know how' and the time to look into it. I asked on the ibp arcade board
http://www.ibparcade.com/index.php?showtopic=4149 I haven't got a clue what I'm doing with stuff like that but I think it would be a fantastic mod for all eBlah users.

The link doesn't work!!
I would love to do this but at the moment it's time. I've looked at a couple of other boards mods but they all use mysql.

OOPS - looks like the link only works if your a signed in member.
I asked if their arcade program would work on eBlah as it's been designed for Ipb and VB.
I got the following replies from two different members
'Actually, i belive phpbb has a arcade mod called phpbb-arcade or something. It's not nearly as good as the IBP mod though.'
'You can make your own Arcade version (with or without a forum), as the games use POST method to submit scores and other information like game name, player ID...'

Can someone make a mod for this? Also for those who've made mods for eblah how hard would this be to make on a scale from 1-10 :p.

Sorry for the double post, but I was wondering would it be possible to integrate the forum with an arcade script?
*hopes that would make it easier :P *

You would still need to know some perl and also database backend programming. Most arcade scripts use MySQL as their database backend.
