E-Blah Community  /  News  /  Platinum 9 Released
Posted by: Justin, May 20, 2005, 3:06pm
Well, after all the wait and anticipation for E-Blah Platinum 9, the day has finally come.  Platinum 9 has been officially released and ready for the masses.  Platinum 9 boasts many new powerful features that make E-Blah stand out far above the competition.

Among the many new features is the ability to add multiple member groups.  In Platinum 9 your forum members can be a part of as many groups as you wish, and allow your users to manage those groups so the Administrators can attend to more important matters.

Along with member groups come the much anticipated install script, which will allow you to install E-Blah quickly and painlessly onto your server (this also allows you to upgrade you forum).

If that were not enough, the entire theme center has been recoded from the ground up. Now you can easily create and distribute themes. There are already many available for download at BlahDocs.com.

Other features and fixes include a total reworking of the Modification Center, new Mailing List, fixed various permission bugs, MD5 encryption has been included, which allows for longer passwords for members, among many, many other things.

With all the bug fixes, this version is the most comprehensive version ever released, and should be downloaded and installed as soon as you have time.  If you are new to E-Blah, what are you waiting for?

Download E-Blah Now!

Thanks and God Bless,
Justin

Change your first line of Blah.pl to this:
#!/usr/bin/perl -w
...and make sure you chmod Blah.pl to 755.

already had done the -w thing.

cannot chmod Blah.pl (or as it is, index.cgi). Don't know how to.
also, blah.pl is working - the 500 error is with setup.cgi

edit setup.cgi and change:
$scriptname  = 'Setup.pl';
to
$scriptname  = 'Setup.cgi';
and
$blahname    = 'Blah.pl';
to
$blahname    = 'index.cgi';

*pathetic look* but Im far tooooooooooo chicken to update!! ;D

I'm just gonna stick with 8.3 me thinks for the moment (until I get brave anyway).

I love 8.3, no really I do NO problems running smoothly, call me dull n slap me with a wet fish, but I'll stick with what I know best, ta!!

(P.s not sure how the wet fish came into it) ;D

That's a bit like sticking with a horse and cart, when you can have a Maserati or Aston Martin :-/

Just upgrade - you'll feel better when you do :)

I get this message after running the setup script:

"The script being run failed to run correctly.

This could be due to the script having an error, which meant it could not be compiled and executed correctly, or security restrictions could be preventing it from executing. Please contact the site's administrator and ask them to investigate the problem."

I checked all my CHMODS and they are fine. What could be the reason?

Regards
Bruce

My forum is using sendmail and the report feature worked before the upgrade to version 9
