The forum here at eblah.com is currently running the Platinum 9 Beta, which can contatin bugs (some of which have already been seen). The version you download from the downloads page will not have these bugs. Right now I'm taking out a part of the system that's been the very core of it since the very first release -- member groups -- and replacing it with a new member group system which will allow your users to be in more than one user group. With this will be a number of new enhancements, which will increase security to areas of your forum. There is no set release date yet, but the new system should be very complete (and I hope to add a little journal / blogging system for your forum users).
Anyway, I'm just keeping everyone up to date, as there probably won't be a new release for several weeks or months (but the next version will be the best yet, I promise :)).

Integrated chat room with flashchat would be sweet. :0).

It'd be too server heavy.

Cool. Of course like every other chat room out there, no one was online when I was on:) Yeah, you also might get rid of that whole IP thing too :P.

Done, no more remote IP display. I'm begining to like this, it's all done in perl, does not use a DB, runs purely from HTML which can be set to clear down as soon as the chat room is empty so no space used up.

I think you should use GTCHAT (
http://www.gtchat.de ) It's layout is a bit more better and that chats pretty awsome. :)
BTW: I highly recommend ALHPA if you download it. ;)

Looked at GTCHAT and yep, it's very cool, but I wanted something simple and written in perl, no java and no databases.
I wrote one myself but it seems a bit slow then I found the one I am playing with now. I hope to intergrate it into my eblah forum some day as a popup window rather than full screen so I'm not really after a full blown chat program.
There are no adverse server loads as it is all html template driven and screen refresh, there are no space issues as the template is written clean after the room is empty. The whole lot is under 100kb.
If I carry on with the one I wrote the whole lot is under 6kb, just needs to be tarted up a bit.

Quoted from Warlock
I've just been playing with a chat module, no java, no database and it seems to work quite well. My site isn't big enough to totally load the server.
Now intergrated into my test site:
