Well I wanted to make my E-Blah forum look neat and have adds and I need help. I wanna make my own info center... Some that can help me out here?
Here's what I want it to look like. (Yes, I did get this idea from another forum) lol. ;D

Nah, I mean I don't like the splits on the info center.

You mean that you want the Board Information to go 100% of the width and the Member Information to do the same?

Well I don't like how it has a split like:
Board info |SPLIT| Member info
I guess cause I'm not use to it lol.

You could edit BoardIndex.pl and make it the way you want it...but I would wait until 8.3 comes out so you have the most current code.
Justin, you could make this like the Portal where people could choose how they want to lay out the stats and member info. Just a thought.

Yeah I'll wait. When it comes out I'll probably be use to the info center then.

I've thought about it ... lol. One of the reasons it is split is to give it a unique look. :P

MSN bot was on earlier and it didn't show it in the users online list. I logged on and went to who is browsing and it said MSN bot is browsing the forum.

On a different note - u'r forum looks alright in Firefox. I uninstalled IE completely coz of how it's been treating me. You should design for Firefox - it's way better, and standards based.
Posted by: Justin, January 2, 2005, 3:08pm; Reply: 19
I like IE better. ;) I like FF too, but some of the JavaScript in IE doesn't work in FF. :(
Posted by: Ryan, January 2, 2005, 3:13pm; Reply: 20
It should do if the javascript is correctly written? I haven't come across any problem in Firefox with Eblah or anywhere else since November.
It's the greatest browser everrrrrrrrrrr

I got IE and Firefox and it seems my forum's not turning out like it's supose to in FF.
:( Anyone have any clue as to what's wrong?
Posted by: Ryan, January 2, 2005, 3:21pm; Reply: 22
What's not happening in Firefox? It looks perfectly fine to me.

It's not showing the borders, the <hr> tags, links aren't working correctly etc.

Hmm.
The JavaScript, use IE to see the new Member Groups ... and then use FF. There are a few of them that won't work, lol. The JS is written fine, to my knowledge, but there is a few things diff with both browsers.

FF works great on here, using my forum is a whole terrible story. :( lol
Posted by: Ryan, January 2, 2005, 3:39pm; Reply: 26
It doesn't show the borders because you have them set to black, same as the background color.
Horizontal Rules do not show because you have them set at a color almost black.
With the links... that's almost certainly because you've incorrectly written the css. Try going to
http://www.w3c.org to validate your css.

It works fine in IE. FF is a diffrent story... and I use this CSS on my other board (Not going to say since it's a diffrent kind and remotely hosted which has enough hits) lol.

Well if you design it for Firefox, you can be certain it will work Internet Explorer & Netscape, and you won't be cutting out a huge amount of viewers.
Raa raa Firefox rocks, Raa raa Firefox rocks, Raa raa Firefox rocks :P

You're right. It's something with the CSS<-- Only. I removed some of it as I accidently duplicated the links and it looks a little better. You can see the <hr> tags and some links are showing. ;)

You've put a <style> tag in your css. You have to take that out.
Posted by: Ryan, January 2, 2005, 3:54pm; Reply: 31
You've also got a wholeeeeeee load of html at the bottom of your forum AFTER the end html tag. You should take out all of it, including the css, and put the css into the template.css...

I saved your forum, and the css...and fixed it for you. LOVE the colors. What you should do is take out ALL css everywhere... and using your admin center, put the following in your main template css and you'll find it'll work sufficient in all browsers:
|
Code
/* Global Table Settings */ body, table, td
{ font-family: Verdana; font-size : 11px; color : #FFFFFF; }
/* The forum background color */ .mainbg { background-color: #000000;}
/* Colors */ .titlebg { background-color: #000000; font-family : Verdana, Helvetica; font-size : 12px; color : #FFFFFF; font-weight : bold; }
.titlebgtext { /* This is for nested tables, so that text formatting is still used */ color: #FFFFFF; font-weight: bold; }
.catbg { background-color: #000000; font-family : Verdana, Helvetica; font-size : 12px; color : #FFFFFF; font-weight : bold; }
.catbgtext { /* This is for nested tables, so that text formatting is still used */ color: #FFFFFF; font-weight: bold; }
.win { background-color: #000000; }
.win2 { background-color: #000000; }
.win3 { background-color: #000000; }
/* Used mainly for Calendar Week listing */
.border, .hr { background-color: #444444; }
.smalltext { font-size:10px; }
/* Forms */
.upload, .textinput,.button, textarea, select { /* .checkboxinput also allowed */ color : #FFFFFF background-color: #EEEEEE; font-family : Verdana, Helvetica, Times; font-size : 10px; border : 1px #8A8D96 solid; border-top-width : 1px; border-right-width : 1px; border-bottom-width: 1px; border-left-width : 1px; }
A:link {text-decoration: none; color: 00FF00; font-weight: normal;} A:visited {text-decoration: none; color: 00FF00; font-weight: normal;} A:hover {text-decoration: none; color: FFFF00; font-weight: normal;} .nav {font-size: 10px; text-decoration: none; color: 000000; font-weight: bold;} .nav:link {font-size: 10px; text-decoration: none; color: 005177; font-weight: bold;} .nav:visited {font-size: 10px; text-decoration: none; color: 005177; font-weight: bold;} .nav:hover {font-size: 10px; text-decoration: none; color: 005177; font-weight: bold;}

Repaste it.... as I fixed a css error.
You have to remember to take out ALL css in the html template, or you will duplicate some functions and screw it up. Keep the css only in the template.css through the admincenter main css link.

Done. I was also wanting "removed" accounts to be yellow. How could I do that? I had it done before, but now its not.

Done. :) But is there a way to make deleted accounts a certain color? ;)

Forum looks good in Firefox now.
Not sure what you mean about deleted accounts? They get deleted so you can't see them anymore.

Ok well here.. I want guests (when they post) to have a certain color. Anyway? I had it like that, but that was with the messed up forum I had. :P
Posted by: Ryan, January 2, 2005, 4:57pm; Reply: 38
Not sure how u managed that... there's no rules defining the text for guest users ???
So far as I can see you'd have to go in and add a class to each file that uses the 'Guest' text.

It's not a biggy, so I'm not worried about it. Thanks alot for the help. :)
