Post it here if you find one that's large, or if you have a large one and if it's huge, I'll add it to the list. :) This will be for people who want to know if E-Blah can handle the load. ;)

Yesterday I had 140+ members online most of the time(data from 15min) and the 10.2 nightly was stable enough. Only thing is my statistics got tossed a few times :)

It got erased 5-6 times yesterday. Not sure its because of heavy traffic or my server. It happened couple of times when the users reach 60+ in the past. Its random can't predict when it will get erased.:)
Eg.

The most users online was 141 on December 21, 2006, 3:27pm.
I might have easily got 20k clicks yesterday. and 25 members registered yesterday.

Hmm, you've not disabled file locking or anything have you?
And was it just extensive click logging?
Posted by: pakodi, December 22, 2006, 11:54am; Reply: 8
Click logging and extensive stats are both enabled.
Posted by: Justin, December 22, 2006, 12:01pm; Reply: 9
No, which one is deleting?
Posted by: pakodi, December 22, 2006, 12:40pm; Reply: 10
The extensive stats are getting dumped for that day. I don't know what file to look at?
By the my filelocking is set to 0 i.e disabled. You want me to change it? But that will not allow more users to login right? ??)

In QuickCore.pl:
|
Code
{
$pwcry = 'ya'; # If 'ya' is changed, change this also! This is conversion key!
$pwlength = $encryption == 2 ? 20 : 8; # Max password length, 20 = MD5 encryption style; 8 = other
$uflock = 1; # File Locking (Dis|En)abler
$fopen = 2;
$fclose = 8;
} |
|
If uflock equals 0, then you NEED to enable it. You'll have random stuff just dropping out.
The extensive log SHOULD NOT be purging like that, it's written to where it should be failsafed. The only way it'd blank out is if you were running out of space or something, or if there's an issue with the server.
If, for some reason, flock doesn't work, then you need to try to find a host that will support it, or install it on the server you are using. With a forum with THAT many users, you'll find more issues than just that eventually. ;)

Hi,
How can your site become small when the entry level for small eblah forums is 10,000 messages when you only have 4,000?

I have over 16,000 posts in total (14,750 visable to guests), but as above, some of my boards are hidden to guests and I even have a 'Admin Board' to discuss moderator tasks etc which is only visable to the Admin & Moderator team.
Any chance of adding me to the list next time you update it please Justin ;)

Same, I have hidden boards, and an admin board, although the admin boards post counts are disabled - dont want admins looking over powerful with huge post counts!
Posted by: pakodi, February 1, 2007, 2:22am; Reply: 19
Today I had "The most users online was 239 on One hour ago." (15minutes time)
The board was stable. But as I said earlier in this thread, the only problem I had is the purging of extensive statistics.
Also one of the thread which had 4000 views suddenly got reset to 0 views.
Other than that, the board was working smoothly.

Hey Justin
At last count..we had 242822 messages. Though quite a few boards are hidden. A guest will only see about 16, 000 but a normal member will see about 200,000.
Only issues we ever have is boards will only show last post per board (as oppossed to last post in each thread) on the most recent posts page..and also..search function often takes forever. Other issues are board related, and we have quite a lot of boards. Sometimes, if adding or editing a board..it throws subforums out of whack, and I have to remove them all back to their rightful place..plus it always fills in the password option whether you want one or not, whenever we go in to edit a board. Often we have to delete it..and often we have to re-enter the correct password as it tends to replace our one when opening a board for editing. I put all this down to the large size and activity of our forum.
By the way..we have changed from trazling.com to trazling.net now

Ca anyone say how much disk space his board occupies? I think it would be a useful piece of information (at least for me as I have to choose between web hosting offers). Thanks

This one here uses 47.31 MB. The number is a great deal higher though due to the space the files take up on the file system.

:( I've got a long way to go unfortunately... My recent domain name changes haven't helped either... It was originally at one of my domains with a PR of 2. Now the new domain is 0 and only a month or two old as of now..
Hope to be posting numbers like unclejacks before long... :)

It would have been nice, considering the admin center already contacts eblah.com for update information, I think it would be good if periodically, when ever the admin center is accessed, the boards report their global stats to a database behind the scenes here.
That way Justin could keep track of how many posts, threads, members, boards are in use using his software. The data could be totally anonymous and could have an opt out button in settings...

Well, we're only using the Blah forum for a couple of years (and we're very happy with it so far!).
We have 7,693 registered members so far and 11,414 messages as of today. We had to reset the forum last May and start all over. We had over 70,000 messages at the time of the reset and the board was running smoothly.
We're using Platinum 8.1 BETA.
By the way, our host banned our forum for a few days because they said that we were using up way too many resources. We had to disable all the internal statistics info to lighten up the load and they eventually lifted the ban.
Thanks for the great work Justin. :)

An upgrade to 10.3.6 might would help with the resource usage, actually. :)

I have a small test server with E-Blah. I have browsed the web in the effort to see as to how E-Blah can handle large amounts of messages.
The largest E-Blah forum I have found so far has an astounding amount of 1144759 messages. And it is still FAST!
I will not, however, post the address of the forum because nearly all posts have been submitted by spammers. >:(
I have also found quite a few E-Blah forums with over 100 000 posts and they run fine. Well, they are all spam infested forum, but E-Blah works quite well.
Tip: As far as I remember, guest posting is on by default. I wonder whether it should be off, because these installed and forgotten forums are not a very nice thing to see.

I now have a total of 241,000 messages (no spam but includes some hidden to guests) and I can asure you that E-Blah handles the volume just fine ;)

Dear Friends,
Today, we pass 1 million messages, no spam, no guest allowed to post.
Eblah can handle it!

Officially our forum is 14 years old, but it was ran using the venerable "Majordomo" (actually a email list manager)
We move to Eblah in June 2004, starting with version 8.
When update from version 9 to version 10, we lost almost half user registers (including my self account) and a undefinite number of post, also we delete a lots of garbage periodically. After 6 years, 3 monts, officially we reach 1 million messages and next month we will to start a big depuration of messages and inactive user accounts.
Sadly, because Eblah seems is not longer in develpment and update, we are thinking to migrate to another software. Any way, I think Eblah IS the best forum software ever made by a teen age programmer (when started, Justin was a tenn).
Justin and colaboratos, please receive from me, the coadministrators, moderators and, of course all members, our warm congratulations!!
Sincerelly,
hector yamasaki (hy in the forum)
