Firm scrambles to patch vBulletin software flaw serious flaw in software widely used to power online discussion sites could allow hackers to harvest reams of personal data, the BBC has learned. The flaw in a specific version of the vBulletin software allows anyone to easily access the main administrator username and password for a site. This would also allow hackers to access data, such as e-mail addresses, and edit the site at will. More at -->> http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-10714192 |

I'm staggered that considering how widespread vBulletin is, it's not been discovered before...
It's not fixing this that's gonna be the biggest problem, It's going to be rolling out the update. As most won't know or bother. Or have been left with a forum by someone and they're technically incapable...
I've not read the full story but I really hope it's a really elaborate hack... Otherwise every kid in every IT class will be messing up forums... |

Is your forum vBulletin? This is about vBulletin, not E-Blah. Ronymon, your forum is E-Blah, so nothing to worry about. |

Yeah, E-Blah's strongest feature is it's security. On top of that, it's not very highly targeted by hackers due to not being as widely distributed as other platforms.
Massive forum software like SMF, vBulletin or PHPBB become victims of their own success in a way... Being that size has positive and negatives, positives are lots of new, cutting edge features, negatives are that they're targeted by hackers and hacks much more... |

E-Blah looks really nice, but vbulletin's features are more widespread and help get more visitors to the site...but I guess security is too big a flaw to overlook. |
