I'm not taking the job on my own nor will I plan to replace Martin. However I have been using E-Blah for 2 years and modding for 1 so with what I have learned about E-Blah may be able to hopefully assist someone.

Anyone that states that E-Blah is not dead, do not have the actual facts, and untill a public statment is done by Justin, then I am sorry to say, that this project is indeed dead, and is not going to move on.

Thanks for sheding some light on this for us Nat, I knew Martin would have very good reason for throwing in the towel   I'm still hoping Justin doesn't let all the hard work you have all put in stop here, granted he has lost interest himself but is there a chance of him passing the rights over to Martin so you guys can continue developing and improving this great program ?

Yeah, if really Justin has lost interest in the project then he should consider passing over the rights to Martin.  

I just started using E-Blah in dec 09. I didn't experience any problems with the setup and Martin generously helped me with the mods that I wanted! But the news of his departure from the forum clearly indicates the grave danger to the E-Blah project.  

E-Blah is a very good forum software and a project like this should not be abandoned. Justin should make a public statement and clarify the things. All this is just scaring away new users and disheartening the rest.  

Sooo..... I just started using E-Blah back in December.  My users are experiencing issues with the private message inbox, and after doing some digging the best I can come up with is some speculation that that particular bug was addressed by one of the "nightlies."

I go to find the download for this nightly and I find that the subdomain that hosts it (pit.eblah.com) is not functioning.  Never mind it appears there hasn't been a new "nightly" since December 2008.

With Justin MIA, Martin jumping ship, and the nightly download site non-functional, is it safe to say I'm screwed and should move on to something else?  

No don't give up. There are a few of us who are trying to pick up the reigns.

This should be the very latest code (that was in the nightly).  There may actually be more changes that weren't in the last nightly... not sure.

Sorry to hear that you are moving on Martin. You were always the go to guy around here. It's a real bummer that Justin will not be supporting Eblah in the future. This is one of the best forum software programs out there. At the risk of being flamed, Justin, you should sell the software to someone or start charging for it. Money talks, bullshit walks and everyone wants to ride for free. I have money, let's talk.

You will be missed Martin. You provided much support when I first started out using E-Blah about 3 years ago. I greatly appreciate your role in the support of E-Blah.

Is E-Blah dead or not?

It's great as it is, but if the development has come to an end, the only pragmatic thing to do is switching to a different forum system to make sure that it's future proof and ready for future features and browsers (however painful this may be, as we have 800 members in our forum and lots of messages).

Is there a way to transfer members and messages to a different forum system? (guess not)

Thomas, many other forum scripts will have a convertor for your members and messages. Justin is still around and doing a little bit.

Thanks for your reply, Nat. I'm having a look at the vBulletin system, but they don't seem to have a converter. Guess I'll have to transfer everything manually somehow  

Really a big shame that E-Blah has come to an end. It used to be among the best. Now it's already outdated in many respects (facebook integration, customization, widgets and so on), and the users of our website already have expectations that surpass E-Blah's capability. Really a shame - but still: thank you very much for a great forum system for as long as the project was alive!   Good work.
