Well, I just set up my E-Blah forum yesterday, and today I was going through the moderator/admin abilities with a close friend, and we found out that we can ban Administrators from a Moderator account, but if I disable the "ban users/ip" option, they can no longer ban anybody. Is there a way I can fix it, and make it so that my moderators can Username/Email/IP ban other "Normal" usergroups, but not other Moderators/Admins?

I need to look into this or ask Justins advice as I was able to ban myself in Member Center logged in as Administrator

I was about to post the same thing. Luckily I had ftp access and was able to manually remove the ban.

I have a theory about how to fix it but I am not 100% sure if it will work.

Hey guys, I really appreciate the replies. I wish I could help fix this, but I'm not an experienced coder.

Scratch my theory idea. I was going to post it if it was going to work but upon further investigation I have lost faith in that method.

I've not been able to fix yet but I am quite close. Justin does know about this, it's been like it for some time and I don't believe he is going to fix, he says that it's always been like that and Administrators should be careful when promoting Members to Moderators.

Yeah. My theory was just to match if the member being banned had a group level <= the member doing the banning group (since a lower score except (0 since it is disabled) seems to be a higher group priority). That would have worked okay till I remember how bans are set up then I figured it wouldn't work at all.

Ahh, darn. Well thanks for trying and looking into this for me. I'll just be even more decisive with whom I promote. I appreciate the effort, guys.

If I ever get time to attempt my quickfix I'll let you know because I have 4 promotions I am about to hand out and it's the only thing keeping me from promoting them.

It actually seems this might be a temporary fix to the problem.
