Hoping to use email validation on this site:
http://www.southfieldparktriangle.org/cgi-bin/forum/Blah.pl

Users seem to be able to register, but the links in the validation emails throw up this error message
"502 - Web server received an invalid response while acting as a gateway or proxy server. There is a problem with the page you are looking for, and it cannot be displayed. When the Web server (while acting as a gateway or proxy) contacted the upstream content server, it received an invalid response from the content server."

Same message comes up with admin validations

Looking at previous threads to try and fix this the key bits of info seem to be that I'm using SMTP (blame the hosting company...no sendmail!) and have my forum URL as http://www.southfieldparktriangle.org/cgi_bin/forum/

This is an error that needs to be fixed by your hosting company.

I take it they don't support Sendmail...

yep, 'fraid not, no sendmail.

Any suggestions as to what I'll need to ask them to do?

No problem -0 I found the error. It was a mis-key in the URL I was using. I'd got "/cgi-bin/" in one string and "/cgi_bin/" in another - all fixed now!
