I have just installed an Eblah forum board and I wonder if I can place Adsense or affiliate product links on it. If so, how do I do this?

You can add it via your admin section in the banner area, or hard code it into your template

Take a look at forum settings, then Main Preferences you will then see "Ad Code to Show:" paste your code etc into this section.

Thanks, Net, for your help. I've followed your suggestion and placed an AdSense code into the place. However, I'm yet to see any Google adverts displayed.

Did you set the Max Number of Ads to Show ?
The ads show up between posts so won't show until you have more than 1 post in a board.

After looking at your forum here: http://www.betterpoise.com/cgi-bin/forum/Blah.pl
You haven't created any boards yet and have no messages.

Martin, thanks for the info. I have created three forum boards and I have set the 'Max. Ads to show 'to 5. However, I've not posted since following Nat's advice. I'll post now and wait for the effect.

Bit off topic??
But there's no "best" you should use which ever zone size you've the space for and that will integrate well with your design.
In general, larger, wider sizes have higher CTRs but quality placement over quantity placement wins every time.

Hi! I'm still interested in getting the ADSense working on my forum boards. I have made two posts on one of my forum boards, http://www.odsynergy.com/cgi-bin/forum/Blah.pl/ and was expecting to see the ADSense in line with Martin's suggestion but no dice. Any other option?

You need content, Ads will ONLY be served when Google can find a match for similar content. If there's no content, Google doesn't know well enough, what ads to serve.

While you've only got 2 posts on the forum, there's not enough, additionally, with only 2 posts, You'll make absolutely zero revenue from the ads anyway at this stage, so nothing to worry about.

The ads will show up when you have more content. Give it time.
