Hi,
Me and Hephnet have been playing with this but havn't got it working.. Perl isn't our forte...

We want to be able to put items from the portal in the board index, creating a new table in boardindex.pl and placing the items in there.
I've tried moving the whole subroutine for the item into routines.pl so it'll load with the main forum and also putting them into the boardindex.pl file itself. Nothing worked...

So I'm presuming only Justin or Martin could help with this, as, as far as I know, they're the only ones with good perl knowledge...

If either of you have a few minutes spare to either point out what I'd need to do or to give me and example, I'd really appreciate it.

Thank you.

Can you be more specific, what module for example? I'll take a look and see what I can do.

Ultimately, I'd like to have the board in 2 column layout, with the entire board in one column and other things in the right column...
Things like the top members, new members, active users etc... from portal. http://geekimo.com/v-portal .
To create the layout seen in other forums where the whole content has a right sidebar, maybe containing ads, statistics, etc...
We've tried a few times to put the items from portal.pl into routines or boardindex but it didn't work...

Hope I've explained well enough, If not, I'll dive into photoshop and make ya a screenshot up of the result I'm looking for.
Thanks for the help martin!

Further to that martin, I've setup the portal to give you a better idea of what I'm trying to achieve... http://geekimo.com/v-portal view that...

Now, all those on the right, I'm trying to put at the right of the main board...
So imagine the main board filling all the empty space on the portal and your with me...

Thanks again.

I've had a look and that will be a huge amount of recoding, and I mean huge.
Best way of getting a two column layout is with Template.html, quite simple, just looking into adding code to that.

Ah ok, that sounds good.

Something like

<tr>
<td><blah main></td><td><? $portal ?></td>
</tr>

No idea how to do it, and I understand it could be quite tricky, but I think it'd be a huge advancement to E-Blah..
It's one of the features of other forum software which eblah doesn't have...

Thanks Martin.

It's turning out to be a nightmare, would suggest you just use modrewrite to point to your portal, sorry.

Awww thanks anyway...

The mod_rewrite to portal wouldn't work, The portal is totally not what I'm looking for, just a couple of the modules from it...
