Hi,

In the pursuit of wanting eblah to have every feature other forum software has and more. I've noticed some forums have a thread "bump" button, So people can bump un answered threads back to page one of the board or back into the latest activity. The bump can only be done by the thread poster obviously and can only be bumped once per time frame.

I don't think it's a massively elaborate mod but would be a good worthwhile one.

I'm never sure about that, given that people in more recent times have a very blinkered and personal view of the world.  It certainly isn't something I would mod but I'm sure in certain circumstances, it could be a good idea.

well like i said it can only be bumped after a certain amount of time, Could be a week or two. So it's not like it would be bumped to the top all the time. Just to stop unseen threads disappearing into history... It could be configurable also..

Yeah, if it could be configured through admin then I can see a use for it.   I find that many people hit the Recent Posts button rather than All Unread and on occasions miss a post, here it would certainly work as 'bumping' it more subtle than saying "have any of you blind gits actually read this?"

I can really see this being a good feature even if it is limited to use by admin and moderators only which maybe the best option.

But then again it takes a year for a post to leave the Recent forum activity on our site lol

I don't see the point if members find it interesting then they can simple post... "bump".

Looks like you deleted it but comments like this will get you banned.

As far as a bump mod goes, I won't write it, I'm not a fan of bumping and if you research on the net you will find that most frown upon it and don't use it.

I haven't deleted the comment.  If you actually read this reply you will see that the comment is in inverted comma's - it was meant as a quote in context with the idea of the mod, as in: Bumping the thread would be like saying "Have any of........

Iconica got it but it looks like my future posts will have to be in larger print.

I think martin understood it too, But remember as an administrator it's part of his roll to make sure everything stays completely mutual. Some people (probably none of us) but some people could be offended by that comment... Ya know what people are like.     GROUP HUGGG!!!!

I'd still like this mod, but can't expect martin to make it if he thinks it would be a bad idea. I think for some forums it may be, But in my case i'd quite like it.
I probably could make it myself but i've got to figure out a few things first. Like what exactly reports a thread as being "new" so it would be back in the recent activity.
I think it's just the last posts creation date but changing that wouldn't be good.. I'm not sure at all. When i figure it out i'll try to put the mod together..

I really fail to see how when I was talking about one of my own forums.  Surely it is up to myself and the people who use that forum to decide what it acceptable and what is not.

Oh well, I guess I am missing something here.

If Martin, or another did the mod, it would be put up as a public release, and as such would not just be for your own site..
The good old fashioned <Bump> wil work
