Reported by a confused member trying to set up their avatar tonight.

In Member Center -> Avatar Settings

The section Your Avatar Dimensions offers two boxes where the width and the height of the avatar can be entered.

Following these boxes is a line which states the Maximum Settings:

This has the order of the displayed values reversed relative to the data entry boxes given above, and shows the height x width rather than the width x height.

Relatively trivial, but surprisingly confusing apparently, for a member trying to work out why their avatar is all stretched and squashed, and refuses to fit the maximums given.

I've noticed this too... Your right, it needs reversing...

Make sure they're labelled "width x Height" too. Because a lot of us have gotten used to the "wrong way round-ness" so if they're corrected, people may still enter the numbers the wrong way round...

So, does that mean if you try to upload an avatar or copy it from a url it won't work?

Of course it will work, but pre-10.3.6 the width-height input boxes to manually specify the dimensions of your avatar were labelled the wrong way round. So where you'd enter 180 for width, it'd actually set 180 for the height and vice-versa. It's fixed now though.

Then how does one change maximum avatar dimension settings from 0 x 0?

No, here's what I mean:

Your Avatar Dimensions
×   Width × Height
Maximum Settings: 0 × 0

Every time I try to upload a picture or give it a url, nothing loads. Are my settings wrong? Why can't I upload or have a custom avatar?

Hi Celia

Go to Admin Settings/Forum Settings/Upload Preferences/Max Upload Size:
I have mine set at .25 for Max Avatar Size and I have no problem.  You also need to go
to: Forum Settings/Main Preferences and scroll down to Member Options:
Avatar Preference-I have mine set to Enable-Full(third party URLS allowed) and
right below that I have the dimensions set to 150x150.

With these setting no one has ever had a problem with the Avatars.  I hope this helps
you!

Have A Wonderful Day!
