Ok, Meta data Doesn't have very much benefit for SEO, It used to be exploited by people who just got good at writing meta data rather than writing good content. Meta Data has very little benefit for search engines.

I know the default template has no metadata tags, what tags could it possibly have by default?

Please read through the thread from the top down.

You seem to be obsessed with SEO.  This is a trait I recognise from being in this trade since 1997.  Quite often those who know least about SEO bang on the most about it.

Google is not the only search engine.

Meta data is far more important than you understand. Google it, and don't reject things just because you don't understand how it works.

You keep asking questions - however you are not genuinely asking questions... you are trying to prove some point - being contentious.  You keep failing in that because your level of understanding is very minimal.

I've been patient with you and tried to explain politely and I've even come back with feedback based on the progress I've made.  You either don't understand it or you resist it - I would guess that's because you think your post count makes you a guru (seen it all before).  "I know all this Dave"... oh yeh.. why ask then...?

Believe me.. I am still being polite here.. as an ex Sgt Major... I know how to take  a strip off someone.

Now if you've got any more questions you don't want answering - feel free to post them here.  Or head off and help someone else on how not to set up an RSS feed or the worst way to add their logo... ever heard of CSS?  That wasn't a question by the way - just responding to your attitude.
