What the heck is a "Administrator Verification Code"?!
Martin explained it to me before but its still over my head. The thing is: what is it EXACTLY? How do(or when did) I set it? I really need to know as I believe theres some very vital options I cant access unless I can get past that prompt. Im using eBlah10.3.5.

Thanks

Suggestion:
Because I did'nt see it I cant say it was even there during the initial installation. Is it possible to make it so users of the script can get that option during 1st time installation to set that code?

That prompt was introduced in the later version of E-Blah, its a secondary password that's only used when your administering the system. So if your browsers session or cookie (Depending on your login type) is "stolen" by a hacker, to login using your credentials they can't access the admin panel because the browser won't store the password for the admin verification...

It's a necessary evil. But a great security feature.

I'm not sure if there's a way to remove that extra security, There should be a way to turn it off somewhere in the code. Justin could answer that maybe??

Well, Im not worried about turning it off. Im all for extra security^^

Its just: How or WHEN do or did I set that?! Thats where Im confused. Theres only 1 password I set. Which is the admin one. I dont recall the setup ever asking me for a "security verification" one. Or coming across anywhere in the config to set it. Did I MISS a step or something? 0.o

And even if I did'nt. How do I go about setting that code so I can access these other features?

Well, alright. Since no one can tell me how I can set that verification code. Is there a way I can "promote/demote" users? Or is those controls in that hidden admin panel that the verification code is needed for? C'mon guys. Im really trying to be cool about this. But PLEASE help me out! How can I set that code or change the ranks of users?

If you get both then the Verify Your Password is your current password and Administrator Verification Code is changed by go to Change Password in your profile.

I've seen some weird stuff with it on some new installs.  If it's doing that (with the two boxes), try what Martin said, if it still doesn't works, you'll have to delete the verifypassword field from the 1.dat file.

On a NEW install, there should only be ONE, unless you went to Member Center/Password and changed it from there.

I do installs for $25 and upgrades for $20.

Justin, about that. If we upgrade, i've always uploaded my original 1.dat 1.txt etc.. to keep all my profile info correct. Shouldn't I do that?

No.  Do not do a new installation (do a forum upgrade) and you have nothing to worry about.
