I grown tired of guests going for a free ride and not contributing to the betterment of the BBS (I've always not allowed guests to post messages) by just reading the posted messages and not adding to the Forum by posting there thoughts and ideas.  So I locked out guests from the board totally.  My question is, does this keep the bots such as Yahoo and Google from visiting the board?  I suspect and hope not.

BTW while I am hear, what is Adsince doing when their bots are on the board?

Thanks for the help in advance....
Bill

No, it doesn't stop the bots. As for Adsense, I'm sorry but I have no idea, never used it.

Martin, I'm surprised you knew what I was saying with the poor job I did of spelling AdSense.

I have a question about the guest locked feature.  As I said, I have locked out guests.  I just opened up my site and got the message that the board is locked to guests and the option to log on or register.  I logged on and had 3 active members, myself, Yahoo Bot and A guest.  Where did the guest come from?  Is it seeing a guest that has actually got onto the board, or the Yahoo Bot is being counted as a guest and a bot or is it seeing me as a guest and hasn't cleared out after I logged on?

These sneeky little electrons and one's and zero's tend to confuse me sometime <grin>.

Take care....
Bill

The ad sense bots crawl your forum to get an incite of suitable ads to show for each thread. So if a new thread about cars is created then before long the ad sense bots will have a browse and match suitable ads to that content. so when users view that thread they are seeing matched/relevant ads rather than just generic ads for your sites theme.

Not the same as googlebot which is indexing your site for the google indexes for google searches.

The Guest you are seeing is probably another bot logging in.
