Hi, recently used E-Blah http://www.ratztails.co.uk/supportforum/Blah.pl?
And I've lost the password to the 'ADMIN' account. I've tried 'forgot password', the email is sent, but it says 404, can't open etc.
It's urgent I can't do admin-type things!
Help,
Thanks...

If you haven't encrypted passwords then just download your .dat file and read it for the password.

Hi

On your server go to your cgi-bin/forum/Members.  Here you will see 1.dat, 2.dat, 3.dat etc.  You should be 1.dat.  Download that and open it.  It will show you your password.

Hope this helps!

Have A Wonderful Day!

To add to marie2robs comment and hopefully clarify even further...

1.dat is the first account created so if you installed eblah that's you!

You can download that file and open it with notepad, It may take a little deciphering but you should be able to find the password feild, when you've found it, if it looks like the password you set your good. you can just enter that and log in..

if it's a massive long string of characters then you have encrypted user passwords and that's your "non reversible" MD5 key... If this is the case your outta luck with this method.
I'm not sure but if it is an MD5 string you should be able to 1. google "md5 encrypt", find a site with that feature, type in a new password into the input and when you get your MD5 key from the site's encryption script paste that in place of the forgotten password in 1.dat... this should work in theory, maybe not in practice, hopefully you haven't and the first fix will work! I'll wait for martin or someone to correct me on that!
