Hi, I've recently added an akismet api key to my forum, it has caught 16 spam messages so far. What exactly does the spammer see when they try to post? is it a notification or does the forum just delete their post just after they make it?

Thanks.

Try posting a spam and you'll see.    It's just an error page that says the post was spam.

Oh... I thought spammers details are reported to akismet?
so only known spammers would be caught?

If not then it just recognises spammer behaviour?

Thanks.

The E-Blah version does not.  It will only ask Akismet if they are spam and they will return a yes/no answer.

They are marked as spam all the time on WordPress.  Akismet is excellent at spam stoppage.
