Hi, I have a shop with a customer base and have added E-Blah, what i would like to do is add all my customers in one fail swoop with no verifcation needed as they have already done this when they created an account in my shop and then when I send out my next newsletter let them know they now have access to the forum,

Does anyone have any ideas how i can add them in go with a generic password that they can change when they login the first time if they want to.

any thoughts are appreiated

You'd have to click the "pre register member" section in admin settings. As members are contained in several very elaborate files created by eblah it wouldnt be easy to simply "paste" your customers into a "members" file.

If you pre register a member you can give then a password, they won't need verification because your the admin and the chances your going to register a spambot is remote.

Thats about the only way i can think of, if you have thousands of customers, it's gonna take a long time...

If you mean the mail sent to you, then yes, you can disable that on admin settings, but i don't think you can disable the mail that is sent out to the member? What i'd do is just set the forum to use an smtp mail server temporarily and enter random incorrect details, that'll stop it sending them out!  I'm 90% sure they won't be sent again when you reset the email system back to normal though.
