Can someone tell me what the below statement in chat-settings does if the value is changed.  What should this value be set to for my chat room that has little activity as it has not caught on yet?  I have a small issue I am trying to deal with.  When someone logs out of the chat room, they are still shown to be chatting on the index page quite awhile after they have left before it finally refreshes and shows them no longer there.

Here is the statement fro the chat-settings:

# Number of second before the chat text is purged.
# Set a higher value for busy rooms and a lower value for slow ones.
$chatPurgeTime = 600;

Thanks....
Bill

The chat is held in a txt file, the $chatPurgeTime is the time limit to how often the page is cleared of old txt.

Thanks for the info.  Is there any fine tuning I can do to speed up the refresh time for the area on the index showing who's chatting after they exit the chat room?  I seems to show them there immediately when they enter but dosen't go away right away when they exit.

Also another issue I have, is there a way to delay the closing of the chat room board when someone exits so the intire audio clip has time to fully be played?

One more thing, the audio clip when entering plays each time the board refreshes.  I am not sure wehre the setting in my browser, IE7 is that will stop this from occuring.  I can't find anything dealing with cache preferences.

Here is the blurb form chat-settings.pl that talks about it:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

# $play_sound_when_leaving is whether or not you want BlahChat to
# play a sound when someone leaves the chatroom. Note: With some versions
# of Netscape, the sound will play every time the chatroom refreshes. If
# this happens, having the user set their cache preferences to "Verify
# documents every time" may help.
