Does anyone know a good way to get Google and MSN to visit my my site?  I've had Yahoo and Adsense periododically visiting the site for a couple months now and I can now find the site and various webpages and boards now using the Yahoo search engine, but Google is the big one and I would like to have them pick up the site.  I have submitte the URL to both Google and MSN, but to date they have not had their bots on my site.

You just need to wait, it takes time, there are millions of sites out there for them to find and crawl.

I notice the bots visiting a good few times a day and my forum isn't that huge yet. There is a good chance one of them is crawling this forum right now, it just takes time, be patient, also constantly adding new content gives them a reason to come back more frequently.

i don't want to Pi** on your fire anymore but even when the bots are visiting regularly that doesn't mean they will consider your site to be important, the key things you'll need to be considered important are:
incoming links (back links) these are when other people think your site is so good they link to you for the benefit of their visitors.
regular updating, sites that are not added to, updated or otherwise changed alot slowly "die" and visitors slowly dry up.
Unique content, make sure you have a good few things noone else has, use google trends to find common misspellings and deliberately misspell the keyword a few times in your content.
I am THEE top result in Google for two things, one is a game that I've spelled wrong and another is a program I've spelled wrong, just so happens allot of other people spell it wrongly too.

I hope your not expecting a big rush of people flowing to your site, even if you do tick all  the above boxes the bots are incredibly "intelligent" and things such as site age come into it also.

Google SEO and read some stuff every day, learn to use the server logs or google analytics to know how to improve your content.

if you use Google analytics you'll slowly notice the number of referrals from the search engines increase in percentage, as long as this slowly climbs your doing good.

just a few tips I've picked up over time.
