Maybe I haven't configured my eSQL-Blah client correctly, but is there already a way to easily move threads to different forums?

Also, I know this has been mentioned before, but it'd be nice to have a point or dollar system similar to vBulletin.  Example at x10hosting.com/forums

Appreciate the hard work, let me know what I can do.

The points system could easily be implemented through a mod. How would they be awarded? Would they be for things such as member referrals, posts, reputation etc? It would be neat to make a referral system. I'll think on that some and look into it some more.

Even if your idea seems whack, stick with it and make it happen.

Referrals, posts, etc.

One issue I've seen with other forums is that people ask first and search later.  Meaning if they have a problem, they'll start a thread before doing some work on the database.  This might be good for search engines, but is not so great for database bloat.

I was thinking about having a point system where members with problems would be charged to start threads, but awarded points when responding to other's questions.  Maybe even tie it into the reputation so that if your answer was liked you get more points.

Obviously, this itself could be good and bad.  It's good because it should limit the # of threads and help teach users to use the search function. But it could be bad because it could deter users away, which I'm okay with because I want the majority of my forums to be more content and less fluff.  Another bad note is it could have users spam their posts.  So it'd be more work to moderate the forum and/or warn/ban members.  However, this is why I would allow users certain places to get points for starting threads, to help limit useless point generating posts.

How about the moving threads between sections part?
