I don't usually use this feature myself so I'm not sure if this problem has been there for sometime or recently started happening but the "recent posts" feature is not listing all of the recent posts on my forum. The problem isn't isolated to every message from one member or all messages on one board either..... strange There are a couple of important threads in the "general chat" board that were posted by different people that aren't showing yet most messages in this board show just fine any ideas what could be causing this ? I've tried re-building the boards etc but they're still not showing up. |

rebuilding the boards didn't add the missing messages but may have cured the problem going forward as someone has now replied on one of the "missing" threads and that post has now shown up on the "recent posts" |

I'm not too familiar with this either, since I just downloaded the application. But from memory, aren't recent posts shown on a timescale. Doesn't it show after a set interval has gone by.
I seem to recall that there is an "as of" date listed on one of the pages and I thought it was for recent posts. If so, this could be the reason why. Or is it that these posts were old and still not showing as recent? |

I don't think there was any specific reason why a number of posts had been excluded, they weren't old posts (same day) or even by the same person, just one of those things I suppose. I rebuilt the boards and everything posted since seems to be showing up as it should. |

That's kind of the point I was trying to get at. If they were new posts then they might not show up. I went and checked my recent posts and this is what I see at the top: "Recent posts as of less than a minute ago" but I think before I've seen "as of 15 minutes ago". It makes me feel as though there's a server interval that checks for recent posts. I haven't gotten that far in looking at the code. However I'm sure I'll hit it. |

Recent posts works a little odd -- the first page or two should always show the correct recent posts. After the first several pages, there could be some posts that are skipped or left out. This is because the first like X amount of posts from each board are read and processed. I forget the exact process, but if you have 500 threads on board 1 and 500 threads on board 2, but board 2 hasn't been posted on in 3 years, you'll get the first X posts from board 1, and then later on you'll have the first X posts from board 2. It's supposed to be the recent posts from every board, and that was really the most efficient way that I found to do it at the time, I believe. |

I suppose with SQL there are going to be a lot of changes with the internal processing, when time permits? Or maybe this could be an option:
[ ] Show recent posts from all boards (Show tip: Shows the most recent posts from each board starting from the last active) [ x ] Show recent posts from any boards (Show tip: Shows the most recent posts regardless of which board it comes from) |
