Hi, i'm testing the SQL eblah on my server under a different domain name to see what all the fuss is about.

When i've uploaded all the files using smart ftp and chmodded all the files using the suggested settings in the blahdocs documentation I get to the success screen but nothing to go any further?

By the "success" screen i mean the screen that says its going to be a successful installation. There is nothing to continue any further with.

Hmm, that's strange.  I think it means that there are no MySQL or SQLite modules installed.  I could FTP and look at it, if you want.

Thank you for the offer Justin but I've scrapped the MySQL idea for now. Until its past beta and I've learned more about MySQL but Thanks for the offer.

That is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard.  If you don't want to use the eSQL-Blah, do it because it doesn't have a feature you want, not because you don't know how to set up a database.  Even though it's a beta version, it's built off the flat-file version, only now you're using a database to store the data, which should make things faster and reduce the file size of your storage.

Not to mention, as things progress you can split the database to an old/current system to make things even faster.  If I were you, I'd do the testing with the SQL version before giving it the cold-hard No.  The next version available from here will most likely use have SQL integrated.  With any luck it'll support PostgreSQL

Well my server storage is unlimited and bandwidth is also unlimited. I have a very good hosting package.

I Use MySQL for other site things such as my chat room but I'm not risking a beta version where my members threads and posts are concerned. Speed is not an issue and I will use the SQL version when its fully released.

The problem was my MySQL was not set up on all of my sub domains correctly (the one I was trying to install eSQL-Blah on) , My host corrected this since.

I DO know how to set up MySQL Databases it's the beta E-Blah I was weary of.

Until then, I'll stick with what works "if it ain't broke..."

Well for testing purposes I'm sure they could really use your help.  You're right, betas are betas for a reason.  However, at least it's not an alpha?

As your traffic begins to increase you're going to wish you had an easier way to manage threads, users, and posts.  A DBMS is much easier all around, especially when you can build in triggers.

How rare is it that an alpha is released to testing? usually there are just different beta releases, firstly your just trying to sound clever, and secondly my traffic is just fine, Now if you'd like to stop insulting me now...
