Hi, how is it possible to have the "notify on new replies" box ticked automatically? a lot of users are forgetting to tick that and then never get notified.

Thanks.

you would have to mod the source code, to do this... But to be honest, it really should be a user option...

I know its good to have that as a user option, what i mean is it will be ticked automatically when a user makes a thread, incase they forget to tick it. but they can still untick it if they want to. what file in the code is this in? and roughly what am i looking for? thanks.

It'll be in Register.pl.

Search for:
Code
 		'validation' => $formid,
			'md5upgrade' => 1

Replace with:

Code
 		'validation' => $formid,
			'md5upgrade' => 1,
			'notify' => 1

New accounts should then have it checked automatically.

I do installs for $25 and upgrades for $20.

this works like a charm but only for new registered user i presume? If so i'm also presuming there is something i could change in the member.dat or some other member file that would have the same effect per member? there are not many members yet and because this only works for new members id like to manually change something for the existing members.
One of them requested i sort that for him because he forgets to tick that box sometimes and i don't wanna have to say "sorry i don't know how" lol.

You could add this to the members dat file:

notify = |1|

or as admin, you can access their profile and just tick the box under Board Settings.

You can also edit Post.pl with the following but this will be for all members.

Find:

Code
<input type="checkbox" name="notify" value="1"$notify />

Change to:

Code
<input type="checkbox" name="notify" value="1" checked="checked" />

To add, Months have passed and i really couldn't live without this now, It's much more often than not, users who participate in a thread, want to be notifed on updates for that thread, having that box ticked by default is excellent!

I'd like to see it in settings in the next release!
