Hello there,

I am having major problems with an install of 10.3.3.

I've read all the past posts regarding the same problem, and have worked through them to no avail. I know it must be annoying to see the same problems, but really I have tried all the workrounds I've found on here.

I'm sure I am missing something, but cannot see it now after two days of editing and re-upoading etc.

The error message is as follows:

WARNING!
Your forum may not work properly if you continue. Setup recommends editing the path to directories in Settings.pl and then refreshing this page until this message disappears. There was a problem verifying that the following directories exist:

Avatars Currently set to: /Avatars
uploads Currently set to: /uploads
template Currently set to: /template
The following may help you figure out what your paths are:
Document Root: /websites/symlinks
Script name: /websites/LinuxPackage02/wo/od/tu/woodturners.co.uk/cgi-bin/forum/Setup.pl
Please note that not all server report the above information correctly.

For the quickest support on the E-Blah Support Forum, PLEASE copy and past everything in this red box.

I re-wrote the settings.pl file to read:

$bdocsdir="websites/symlinks/LinuxPackage02/wo/od/tu/woodturners.co.uk/public_html/blahdocs"

as per a previous post, but this also does not work.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks in advance

Download the attached, unzip and upload in ASCII to your cgi-bin folder, CHMOD to 775 and run it.
This will give you your true DOCUMENT_ROOT

Thank you.

I'll try that later today and let you know how I get on.

Here is the appropriate line of info obtained from the script run:

This server is running perl version: 5.008008.
CGI Version: 3.15
The absolute path to this script is: Unobtainable - contact your server administrator, on a Linux based platform.
DOCUMENT_ROOT: /websites/symlinks.

how does this indicate I should phrase the re-write in settings.pl?

I've already tried:
$bdocsdir="websites/symlinks/LinuxPackage02/wo/od/tu/woodturners.co.uk/public_html/blahdocs"

and this fails with a "bad file descriptor" message

I'm so lost here!  Any further help would be greatly appreciated.

regards,

Try adding a / before the "websites/...".

I do installs for $25 and upgrades for $20.

Sadly, it didn't work.

I decided that it had to be something to do with the new host, and gave up trying to upload the forum there.

I've now succesfully loaded it on one of my other hosts, and except for a few missing icons, all is well.

All I have to do now is read through this board to see how to re-load the saved data from the original eBlah board...

fingers crossed...

many thanks for your time and help
