ive discussed this in a forum support thread but i figured i would make an official request. some of us have some adult content we would like to at least try to filter out the kids. we all know they will just lie but its nice to at least have something. A mod that would request information like age verify then could PM them password to the protected forum. ive a friend who figured he could do it in simple perl and just have a sendmail but id rather have something eblah intergrated.

I have actually been looking at this, this is what I have on one of my test boards.

Try to view the Adult Test board as a Guest.

Login as Test - password test then try and view it.

In my Admin Center - Boards and Categories, there is an extra checkbox I can tick, "Contains Adult content"

The problem I haven't gotten around yet is that you are returned to the main Board Index and need to click on the board again after Verification.

How to make this a mod, now that is something different.

works perfect. the question i ask does this change the user file so they now have perm access? which is why iwas going the simple rout eofr password protecting then upon age verify it sends them the password but if this does the prior it works better then a password protected since anyone could give out the password

No, it doesn't change the user's file, it is javascript cookie based. It is a simple AVS system, all members who verify their age will get access. Even if I went for a more complicated group based version that would send a password/verification email, this is easily bypassedas if a member applied to join the adult group, they could still lie about their age and get the password.

With AVS it is there to protect the site owner in respect to the law, it provides evidence that you have a system in place and someone would have to blatently lie to get past it.

You could use a combination of the two, password protected and then AVS. An adult group which a member has to apply to have access to, you send a password to them but they still have to pass through AVS, this way you are always covered in respect to the law.

OK, try the attached. Unzip and upload the mod in ASCII to your Mods folder.
Upload the to .js files to your /blahdocs folder(with common.js and pngfix.js etc)
Do a forum backup and then test install first.

After installation, access the Admin Center - Boards and Categories.
If you then select the board with adult images, at the bottom you will see a new tick box Adult Content?
Select this and save.

Get back to me with any problems.

heh one of my users found not really a bug but a sort of way around. if a user does not do the age verify yet but clicks on recent posts if there are any of the restricted areas with posts in recent section they will show up images and all. tested myself on a temp account i was able to see adult threads without having adult section access.

Working on version 2 now, just need to create the mod.

looks good i couldnt see anyway around it. tried searching checking users posts but no matter what if i wasnt verifed then i couldnt get in

Just about complete, now have it working with the Latest forum activity also just in case someone enables it.

Give it a test and if you want to try it on your forum I'll post it.

One thing that you need to do is make a post in each topic of the adult board as a new parameter needs to be added to the .msg file. (it can just be a test post and deleted after)
