I recently changed hosting companies and moved my site and eblah forum. The site runs fine but I get the following message when I try to go into the eblah forum.:

The copyright of this software has been removed! Before you can continue to use this software, add <blah v="$copyright"> to your template.

I'm not sure what thats all about. I was using a custom template but never removed any copyright statements.

Can I install the original templates and restore the forum?
I think the forum is version 10.

It is probably a settings issue with the path's, have you changed them to match the new hosts file structure?

Settings.pl

$avdir =
$templates =
$bdocsdir2 =
$uploaddir =

All need to reflect your DOCUMENT_ROOT which your host can give you.

Also, you should really upgrade your forum, as that message has been changed a little.

I do installs for $25 and upgrades for $20.

I am migrating my eblah forum to a new host and it will be hosted in a sub directory.

I also need to upgrade the forum for my client.

I have attempted to follow your instructions above.

My files have been copied over and I have editted the settings.pl file but I get the following error:

Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, webmaster@utaheyemds.pixelspowerandlight.com and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Apache/2.2.6 (Unix) mod_ssl/2.2.6 OpenSSL/0.9.8g DAV/2 mod_auth_passthrough/2.1 mod_bwlimited/1.4 FrontPage/5.0.2.2635 Server at http://www.utaheyemds.org Port 80

My settings.pl fil is attached if it helps.

ANy help much appreciated. I will upgrade the forum after I can get it running correctly.

Settings look OK

1. Make sure you have uploaded the forum folder in ASCII
2. CHMOD any folders set at 777 to 755, some hosts do not allow 777

Is it possible for me to do a new install of eblah and then import the current forums threads and posts back in?

Its 9.6

It looks like I might need chmodinstructions for 9.6 if they are different than the current version. I am reloading the the forum in ascii mode.

If there was a way to do a complete migration from a new copy of the current version I will do that if its easier.

The best would be to move it and make sure everything works, and then upgrade.

CHMOD all of the files in the CGI-BIN 666, and all of the folders 777.  That's the best way to do it.
