Greetings, I have tried several times to correct this from other threads but I simply cannot get it to work, I can get the error message to change but not fix it. Any help with this would be extrememly appreciated!!

edit: blahdocs is loaded directly into the root folder without public_html

WARNING!
Your forum may not work properly if you continue. Setup recommends editing the path to directories in Settings.pl and then refreshing this page until this message disappears. There was a problem verifying that the following directories exist:

Avatars Currently set to: /var/www/html/blahdocs/Avatars
uploads Currently set to: /var/www/html/blahdocs/uploads
template Currently set to: /var/www/html/blahdocs/template
The following may help you figure out what your paths are:
Document Root: /var/www/html
Script name: Setup.pl
Please note that not all server report the above information correctly.

For the quickest support on the E-Blah Support Forum, PLEASE copy and past everything in this red box.

Thank you!

Sincerely,

http://infohound.net/tools/env.txt

Change that to env.pl and save it to your server, and then run the script after you CHMOD it 755.  It should then show some information on the paths, which you can then place in Settings.pl for the location of blahdocs.

If that doesn't work, you'll need to contact your host for the full directory path to blahdocs.

I do installs for $25 and upgrades for $20.

It worked but could you treat me like I was a 3 year old with a short attention span and tell me exactly what I am looking for and what to do with it please?

Thanks for your help Justin. I figured it out with a little help from other posts, the env.pl results and a little common sense (the common sense was the hard part).

I have another problem now though. When I try to go to my forum http://forum.spiritwalkerguild.org I am getting a forbidden message. I have checked all of my chmod settings and they are correct. Now what?

Have you ever concidered setting up a knowledge database with possible error's, how to fix them, extra files (like env.pl), etc with a search function and/or catagorized and written in elementary terms assuming everyone knows little to nothing about perl?

It might prove to be useful and also get E-Blah more useage and recognition. I don't know about everyone else but when I go to install something and get error's I will look for quick help and if I cannot find it or figure it out I tend to move to something I work with immediately rather then waiting for responses. I didn't do it this time, thankfully so, because I really wanted to use E-Blah forums and I noticed all the posts were typically answered in a matter of hours. But does everyone open other posts to look at post date/times and responce date/time before they uninstall and move on?

Just a thought I know it would probably take a lot of work and if you don't have a team working on E-Blah this could take a lot of time but perhaps looking for a team of volunteer's to help compile information and/or write pages? I looked at the help I could find but found it difficult to navigate and find what I want and you don't seem to link sister sites together. At least not that I found (I did read the readme though)

Thank you for all your hard work and your help!

Hi Sandy, well done for your work and figuring things. The actual forum is also like a mini database, where the "search" link can bring up plenty of info on different things.

Yes but unfortunately forum searches are only as good as the keywords used and (I dare say) most people have no idea about Search Engine Optimization (SEO) or keywords and if they do it is the farthest thing from their mind when they are starting a help me thread. I was just thinking that if it was in a  more organized database it would help not only the users but also E-Blah itself. I ran several searches on different keywords to get the help I needed but it pulls up so much unrelated material because of poor keyword choices in the original thread. I do SEO for a living, among other things, and hate forum search engines because, as I said, they are only as useful as the keywords the original poster used in the subject. You have all done a great job here, I was just offering a friendly suggestion as one professional to another.

Ok I have uninstalled and reinstalled and have it working now.

I have another question though.... I looked but cannot find it. How/where do I change my board address from http://www.forum.spiritwalkerguild.org/cgi-bin/forum/Blah.pl to http://www.forum.spiritwalkerguild.org

Thank you once again!

You will need to use Mod_Rewrite and there is an article here: http://www.blahdocs.com/How_to_use_Mod_Rewrite

I want to direct it to forum.spiritwalkerguild.org not spiritwalkerguild.org/forum. All files are already on the subdomain. Is it possible in 3 year old terms to make this happen? Thanks!

The best way would be the move the forum directory over to the forum.sp...org domain.  And then setting up Mod_Rewrite to point to there.  This process isn't always the easiest thing to do, even for some experienced computer users.
