Hi,

Having problems with 10.2.5 on a linux server. Have re-upped everything several times and CHMOD'd correctly. When I try and run Setup.pl I just get a page full of code.

Have a look http://www.atherstonechamber.com/cgi-bin/forum/Setup.pl

I've also tried changing the .pl extension to .cgi with the same result.

Any ideas?

check with your hosting company that cgi is enabled you should find that is the problem. Also did you up in ascci mode?

When I just tried it started to download? the actual .pl file

cgi is enabled and i did up in ascii mode.

it's weird because i've installed an eblah forum before without any probs, not sure what's happening this time.

i'll try deleting everything and upping again for about the 6th time.

Make sure that the path to perl is correct in both Setup.pl and Blah.pl

#!/usr/bin/perl

It might not be #!/usr/bin/perl, I just put that as an example.

All my sites are #!/usr/bin/perl bar 1 site which is #!/usr/local/bin/perl

These are the common ones:

#!/usr/bin/perl
#!/usr/local/bin/perl
#!/usr/sbin/perl
#!/usr/lib/perl

I have an account with them and normally I install my forums to a folder called forum in the root so as to keep it all together under one folder, ie /forum/blahdocs and /forum/cgi-bin/forum.

With Fasthosts I had to use their /cgi-bin folder for the code as I had the same problem as your having now.

I only had the problem if I tried to install out of their cgi-bin folder but I'm sure there is somewhere in the Control Panel, a button to tick to allow scripts to run. I'll login to mine and get back to you.

Just been onto my account and it is supposed to be enabled by default.I would contact Fasthosts and tell them that perl scripts will not run from the cgi-bin folder.
