Anyway to get a shoutbox on the index?

when you say Index, do you mean the main page of your forum?

Yes the main page (with all the boards)

it should install at the top of the main page of your forum.

I installed shoutbox this morning and while the program is running.  

I am having this problem "You are either not logged in, waiting validation or left the message field empty. Please enter a message or Login. Guests are not allowed to post."


I searched through the boards and I found a similar instance:
1) I have already set my IE6 to check for newer versions of the page everytime I visit.
2) I cleared my history
3) Cleared all cookies and logged into forums again.

My boards address is http://www.federationls.com/forum/Blah.pl?
If anyone wants to login my test login in Tremale password tremale.

Lastly I have several Themes installed by requests, and the darker themes have a transparent background with black text, how can I make the shoutbox background white in all themes, if possible.

Your members path may not be configured correctly

So how to you get the shoutbox.. Is it in the e-blahpackage?

Did you change the default cookie prefix when you installed?

If it is eblah1 then this:

As for the colors, it uses the themes .css file for it's colors.

I checked the eblah cookies it is infact eblah1_un, I made the change however still no joy.  I am attaching the config.txt(config_5343.txt) and my settings.pl(pl_5374.txt) files.  

Sorry to be such a pain, the person who was taking care of things for us has been having a very difficult time of late and I am trying to fill his shoes, sadly i am a few years behind in all this and trying desperatly to get back up to speed asap.  again all your help is apprecitated.

Change both eblah1's back to eblah

and change these 2 lines:

$themepath = "/forum/Prefs";
$datpath = "/forum/Members";

to:

$themepath = "/kunden/homepages/7/d171565799/cgi-bin/forum/Prefs";
$datpath = "/kunden/homepages/7/d171565799/cgi-bin/forum/Members";

or what ever the full path to your /forum folder is after /kunden/homepages/7/d171565799/

Does anyone have a screenshot of this shoutbox

changed both.... still nada... forum is in the root directory no cgi-bin or anything.  Does it matter that i use SSh to upload files?  I am uploading in ascii and binary as the instructions say.

well I played around with this most of the day sifting through the search and found a post that a guy changed his inc_form.php line

from
<input name="name" type="hidden" id="name" value="<?php echo $screenname; ?>" class="textfields" />
to:
<input name="name" type="hidden" id="name" value="<?php echo $_COOKIE['eblah_un']; ?>" class="textfields">

Shoutbox is working but... The only problem I have now is that it says my name is 2.....  How can I get it to use our actual screen names

It is showing your name as 2 as that is the cookie value and not your screenname.
