Hi all,

I want to replace the calendar button/link with a new button/link for the attachment gallery. I know what link to add and have creacted the image for the button. I looked into the file called "Routines.pl" but couldn't figure out how I can do this. I deleted this line
Code
$calmenu = qq~<a href="$surl\lv-cal/" rel="nofollow">$img{'cal'}</a>~;

and inserted this instead.
Code
qq~<a href="$surl\lv=download,a=1/"><img src="blahdocs/buttons/gallery.gif" alt="Gallery" border="0"></a>~;

The calendar was gone but the new button didn't show up.
Can anybody help me? I am using 10.1.

Thank you in advance,

The URL is probably wrong for that image.  It was probably supposed to be /blahdocs ...

Thanks Justin for the response.
However I don't think it's because I put the wrong URL.
I changed the line for the home link to this so that I could see if it's the URL or not:
Code
$homemenu = qq~<a href="$surl"><img src="/blahdocs/buttons/home.gif" alt="Homee" border="0"></a>~;

The button for the home did show up but my new button/link for the gallery still didn't show up.
Those two buttons have been uploaded in the same directory.

http://tamako.milkcafe.to/blahdocs/buttons/gallery.gif
What am I doing wrong? All I did was delete the line for the calendar and added the new line for the gallery in the file called Routines.pl. Is there anything else I should do?

Thanks,

Post the entire new area of code you added/changed.

In the file called Routines.pl, I deleted the code for the calendar and added the red part:

Quoted Text
$homemenu = qq~<a href="$surl">$img{'home'}</a>~;
$gallery = qq~<a href="$surl\lv=download,a=1/"><img src="/blahdocs/buttons/gallery.gif" alt="Gallery" border="0"></a>~;
$searchmenu = qq~<a href="$surl\lv-search/~; $searchmenu .= "b-$URL{'b'}/" if($URL{'b'}); $searchmenu .= qq~">$img{'search'}</a>~;
$menubar = "$homemenu$sep$help$msp2$calmenu$msp2$searchmenu$msp2";

Doing it this way is a very complicated way and will need several files modifying. Do you just want to link to an external Gallery?

Justin, I changed the code to this

Quoted Text
$homemenu = qq~<a href="$surl">$img{'home'}</a>~;
$homemenu = qq~<a href="$surl\lv=download,a=1/"><img src="/blahdocs/buttons/gallery.gif" alt="Gallery" border="0"></a>~;
$searchmenu = qq~<a href="$surl\lv-search/~; $searchmenu .= "b-$URL{'b'}/" if($URL{'b'}); $searchmenu .= qq~">$img{'search'}</a>~;
$menubar = "$homemenu$sep$help$msp2$calmenu$msp2$searchmenu$msp2";

and my new button is showing up and the link for the attachment gallery is working!
The problem is... now the button and the link for home is gone.

Martin, yes I just want to add the link to the gallery where everyone can see the pictures that have been posted like they see the album. I know I could just go to the admin section and add the code for this in the main template like this.
Code
<a href="http://tamako.milkcafe.to/luv/forum/Blah.cgi?v=download,a=1"><img src="/blahdocs/buttons/gallery.gif" border="0"></a> <blah v="$menubar">

You may think I'm just too perfectionistic but I want to place the new button between home and search. And actually learning how to customize the board is a lot of fun for me. I will never be able to create a board like this from scratch on my own but getting to know how you guys made this work helps me learn new things.

Thanks for your time. I'd really appreciate if you could still continue helping me with this.

You didn't copy like I said.  You add .= not = ... $homemenu .= NOT $homemenu = ....

Glad it is working but I feel it would have been better to add this button to your template instead. The reason I say this is because everytime you upgrade, Routines.pl will be over written and you will have to redo the code again.
