Is it at all possible to change the height of the box in which the scrolling news is displayed? If so, how do I do this? I've searched this forum but to no avail!

it's in News.js

var sheight='40'

and BoardIndex.pl

Change both 40's to the size you require.

Excellent, I've done that thanks.

But now the box is bigger, but the text that scrolls only appears within a smaller 'invisible' box i.e. the text appears about quarter of the way up the box, then disappears qtr of the way from the top of the box. Is there any way to make the text appear for the whole journey from the bottom to the top of the box?

And is it possible to stop the text from pausing at the top of the box, unless the mouse is held over it?

No, I increased the value to 100 which increased the size of the box - as expected, but the text only shows up within a small area within that box. Make sense?

Yep, both 40's are now 100 and the box is just the right size. Its as if there is a huge cell padding on the news box (but according to the code it doesn;t seem to be the case).

I've just tested it on my test site: http://www.opportunitynowhere.co.uk/cgi-bin/forum/Blah.pl?

Changed the 40px in BoardIndex.pl to 100px and changed var sheight='40' to var sheight='100' in News.js and it works perfectly.

hmmm, curious.

Here is the extract from BoardIndex.pl
     if($enews) {
          $ebout .= <<"EOT";

$mbname $var{'4'}

   <!--
EOT

And this is from news.js
//configure the below five variables to change the style of the scroller
var sdelay='300' //delay between msg scrolls. 1000=1 seconds.
var swidth='100%'
var sheight='100'
var sspeed='2'

var singletext=new Array()

if (singletext.length>1)
     i=1
else
     i=0

Does anything look wrong in there?

It all looks as it should do, what version of E-Blah are you running?

It's just a copy of the News.js from 10.2.5, maybe you had an older version.
I also set the delay to 0 so it shouldn't pause.
