Hey guys,

Tried upgrading the MA forums from 9 to 10.25, encountered a few issues along the way and thought I'd solved them, but once the Setup script informed me everything was a-okay, I ran blah.cgi and get a 500 and a 404.

( http://www.midnight-assembly.net/cgi-bin/forum/Blah.cgi )

I can't figure out what has gone wrong.  If you could suggest me some potential causes, I will begin work trying to redo whatever mistakes I made.   Thanks for your always prompt and reliable support Justin!

In Blah.pl uncomment this line:

use CGI::Carp fatalsToBrowser;

Then post the error.

I removed that line, but still get the same error.  By 'uncomment' you just meant, delete, right?

NO, uncomment means to remove the # from the begining of the line.

Code
#use CGI::Carp fatalsToBrowser;

Becomes:

Code
use CGI::Carp fatalsToBrowser;

Still the exact same response. Line is well and truly uncommented.

After lots of playing around, got the forum to work.  Thanks for the help.

I rebuilt the boards and member list, etc.   But now when I'm trying to edit the forum settings, the changes I make don't get saved in the forms after I click the save button.  As such I can't change the directories, and the majority of the forum is unfunctional.  Has this happened before?

Have you CHMOD Settings.pl to 666?

I have seen this on 1 members site before and it was the host server, didn't like the folders set to 777

Try CHMOD'ing cgi-bin and all sub folders to 755.

CHMOD is all correct to my knowledge - and I just finished double checking...

When I try and access any boards, the error I get is

Illegal division by zero at ./Code/MessageIndex.pl line 59.

The member center works fine... as does the calender, and search.

I don't get it!

Go to Admin/Settings/Save.  That should fix it.  You need to check all those settings, too.

Admin > Forum Settings > Save?

That's the problem I'm having... the forum setting I change don't get saved after I submit the form.

I promise settings.pl is chmod 666.   Initially I renamed it to settings.cgi and thought that might have been the problem, but whether it is .pl or .cgi I have the same issue, and I'm pretty sure it's not a chmod issue.  Blah.cgi is configured properly to know where the settings are...  this is a bit of a mystery.

CHMOD it 777.  Is the user and group showing the same thing as Blah.pl is?  It SHOULD, make sure it does.
