Oh boy.....well no matter how much I try, I still have a MAJOR issue with my sitemap.html that I generate, picking up all the error pages, and everything in between on the forum.... log in areas, you name it.

Specifically these:

v-login, v-register, v-error, v-search, v-recommend, v-print, v-report, v-memberpanel, v-search, v-cal, v-portal, v-stats,

Well view it here and you can see for yourself . Got to my website http://www.getawayspas.com and just add sitemap.html to the url.  Make sure you scroll all the way down.

I was able to get around it on using gsitecrawler which generates a xml sitemap but  have not been able to create a basic sitemap.html file without it including everything but the kitchen sink in there LOL

Why is it including all of this and is there a way to block these areas as I notice that many of these ERROR pages or pages that should not be indexed ARE being indexed on Google, Yahoo and MSN. YIKES. Definitely not good.

Is there a way to set this up so its not going to do that?

Any help or resource someone could suggest would be most helpful.

http://www.eblah.com/robots.txt

Also, there's a sitemap generator here that is specifically for E-Blah that'll do this a lot better than a 3rd party application that'll actually look at the URL's.

I do installs for $25 and upgrades for $20.

The DIR to Settings.pl is set to a URL.  Change it to the directory path to Settings.pl, not the URL path.

ok one more question (sorry to be a pain!!)

I got it working and generated a sitemap, but needed to remove the mod_rewrite stuff from my .htaccess file to run it.  Whenever I goto run sitemap.pl the mod_rewrite seems to take over and it just goes to /forum/ which is then the board index.

I dont really understand it, as /forum/m-1165259117 for instance goes to the message as normal so how come the .pl file redirects - it all works fine with the .htaccess!

You really need to run it as a cron job.

You can run it with mod_rewrite, but you've got to make it so the sitemap generator is not rewrote.

RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/sitemapgenerator.pl

Something like that.  Add it to your .htaccess file.
