There's been a few questions about why I'm moving E-Blah to SQL.  I'm doing it to increase flexibility and speed.  It's also incredibly easy to do things with SQL.

E-Blah will still support users with no database by using the sqlite (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SQLite).  SQLite is fast, and will be flexible for users that have no actual database, such as MySQL, available to them.

I do installs for $25 and upgrades for $20.

will you also be working toward a converter for those that want to convert from the flat file system to mysql?  so that users will not lose any of their data?

Yes, of course.  That'll be closer to when I feel safe with everything though, so it'll take a while for that.

Now, daily backups aren't bad.

Im glad to hear that eblah will move to SQL, this increases security (so people cant download .dat files and steal unencrypted passwords) and this will also go better for those that use databases a lot (like me)

Please still give the option to not use SQLite! A lot of people are using managed servers (me included) and can't install libraries.

There's already two new modules in E-Blah (Cache and SQL).  In the same way these work, so will others -- just add them to the same directory Blah.pl runs in.

SQL is a great idea. I am a Perl programmer too and I work with SQL code. I totally agree that its very easy to do multiple different things in as compared to flat files. Its getting to where SQL is becoming the "standard" for programmers and website hosts. Pretty soon. almost all hosts will support SQL. But SQLLite is a good idea.   Cant wait until its done.
