as a note, I have no idea what its talking about for the most part in the blahdocs installation pdf
I've got no idea where my forum directory is, or how I can find it.

should be the readme.pdf
i beleive the current docs are for upgrading to 10.1.5, but they are the same steps for upgrading to 10.2 so just follow the same instructions.

ftp=file transfer protocol....in short, it is a connection that enables you to upload files from your computer to the server that serves your webpages.  if you are using forumwise, then i do not beleive you will have ftp access.  i would suggest switching to a hosting provider that gives you full access, or if you are not knowledgable on how to setup webpages and such, maybe try Justins free forum hosting.  Justin is the creator of E-Blah so you can rest assured you will have no problems.

oh, sorry.  guess you said forum ready, i thought i read forumwize.  my bad.  you will need to ask Justin then if he plans on upgrading to 10.2 any time soon.  you can add a new theme by going to admin center/themes manager and click new theme.  if you're new to creating themes and need an outline, i would suggest maybe opening an existing theme and copy and paste the css files and html files to the new theme, then just edit the win categories etc.

Thanks, I got my fresh install eblah up at http://www.wantdesk.com which works for me although some out of state friends have reported they're not able to connect yet.   The DNS provider says it can take 48 hours for a new domain name to percolate to all the domain name servers in the world.

It's not open for posts yet as I want to write up a custom front page.

kirk:
your url is redirecting to 192.168.1.7
if you are trying to redirect to another server on your local network, it won't work that way.

Thomas,

My computers are independantly on a cable internet connection through a router.  I do not have them setup for a LAN.  The url does work for me.  I haven't tried it from a connection off the cable.  So if it won't work, what will?

Thanks,
Kirk

how are you redirecting to the desired location?  can you post some of the code here?  it works for you because it is redirecting to a local ip within your lan, so it's not actually going accross the internet.

http://www.myipaddress.com

That's where you should redirect to.    The IP listed there, that is.
