Justin,
Would you consider writing an extra script for the code directory that provides basic interworking for external programs.
The reason I ask is that I am trying to write other perl scripts that interwork with eblah to provide user / username functions but then every time I upgrade to a new version of eblah I have to re work things again to get everything to work.

What I mean by this is a standard script that you maintain along with eblah that can be included / called in any other script and performs amongst others, the following sub routines for example...

Sub CheckUser
Populates a $Username variable,
Populates a $UserNumber variable,
Populates a $UsersEmailAddr variable,
Populates a $Status variable (Normal Member, Awaiting validation etc.)
Populates an $IsAGuest variable,
Populates an $IsAnAdmin variable,
Populates a $PMCount variable,
Populates a $NewPMCount,

Sub LoginUser

Sub LogOutUser

Sub UserLookup
Supplied with a user number to return another users details

+ anything else which might be useful for others.

I know that I would find this useful and I am sure that other would too.  The main advantage would be that any program could share user data with eblah and any changes / upgrades made to eblah would work with other programs immediately without any changes being needed whatsoever to the other scripts.

Please advise!

Mike.

I take it that is a no then, I am surprised that no one else thinks that this is a good idea!

I think that being able to easily integrate other custom programs to share user data and the users login would be a real plus for eblah.  It would make it much simpler to have a really great web site and might simplify integration to enable others to write programs which work seamlessly.

I've thought/been thinking of doing something that can be like an API call to E-Blah, just haven't had time (or will ) to work it out yet.

I do installs for $25 and upgrades for $20.

Please would you consider it some more, it would be great if you could do a script that could just be included into any other program to just tell it the username etc.
As I said before, I have been trying to create a site which shares login data with the forum but have been persistently thwarted every time a new version is released.
I am now wondering whether or not to bother with any further development as I will now be stuck with the previous release of eblah.  If I run into problems later on someone will just tell me to upgrade but this will become tedious and tiresome.  If you did this extra script it would negate the need to make any changes to other programs, they would always just work.

If anyone else feels the same way then please reply and back me up!

I know we've had some problems intergrating with other software... so anything that would make that easier would be awsome... wordpress is the program we're working with... it's very confusing for our members to have several different logins
