ahh, i see.  well then, i am at a loss.  i have tried a few different browser, but it only seems not to work in netscape and ff.  it works fine in kbrowser, opera, ie, blazer.

is there anything you know of i may need to add or change in the server that ff is dependant on?

(thomasinnv) I see you have a number of mods/extras/customisations installed on your forum. That means there are a number of sources for any odd behaviour - maybe even caused by a combination.

I'd be tempted to get back to a clean forum install (or install a clean one in a separate directory), and see if that did or did not show the lack of css in ff. If all was well in the clean install, then it's a case of adding the extras until one of them breaks it and you lose the styling in ff.

It didn't like the animated cursor for some reason, strange as it works OK on my test site.

that was actually one of the first things i tried, was reverting back to the clean boardindex.pl file from before any mods were installed, but no luck.  i will try a fresh install with no mods and see what that does.

I really don't know. I just installed it on another board and it worked ok
It didn't like the animated cursor, made it jumpy but was fine once I removed the css statement,

I've even set it up on another of my test boards ok.

Thinking of homing in on the cause rather than a cure for the moment, do you have any other pages or sites installed on the same server that we could access to see if the effect is unique to the forum, or happens to any pages from the server in question.

The pages would need to be built of a page plus separate css stylesheet, and we'd need the url to have a look at using ff and ie for comparison.

(Puzzled and interested now )

yes there are other pages on the server, and they display fine, accept they are left justified instead of centered.  i am in the process of installing apache to test if it is the server software, just trying to get the correct config to get perl to work.

the url is http://getjesus.net

so heres an update.  it appears that omni http server does not like ff.  i installed apache and presto...everything worked fine in ff.  now i am going to download the latest version of apache, as i was unable to get it to work with my php which i need for my webmail server.  they have a package called xampp that has apache2.2.3 along with php 4 and 5, perl, mysql, openssl, ftp server, mail server and some other things in an installer package.  i'll let you know how it works out.

i am now up and running, fully functional again.  i used the package i mentioned above, and with very little configuration, blam!  it's pretty much an 'out of the box' package,  truly awsome!  i would highly recommend it!!

OmniHTTPd works fine for me at home.  That's what I use on my personal computer.  I use Apache for my closet server though.

I do installs for $25 and upgrades for $20.

yeah, doesn't make sense to me.  i'm sure it was probably a setting somewhere that i just didn't get right.  i'm happier with apache anyway.  it seems to work better.
