Go to that members profile by clicking on their name, and then click where it says Administrator Options on the left side of their memeber profile and add them to the admin group. |

You asked how to make someone an admin not a moderator . I have to be honest with you, I see the Board Moderators group as something that is left over from version 7x and below or at least before 9x. With the way the member groups can be set up now, I don't know why anyone would use it. In fact, after looking at it here, I don't think that you can add anyone to that group . I think to make someone a moderator on a board, you have to go to your admin center, Board settings, select the board you want, and type their name in the list of moderators. This will work fine on a forum with not so many boards and not so many users, but as your forum grows, it will get tricky to keep all of that straight. I would just create a special group and add members that you want to be mods to that group. Then go to your admin center, board settings, and what ever board you want them to be in control of or partially in control of. Then you have the options to let that group modify posts, delete posts, upload files, post polls...and so on. I hope that makes sense -Craig. |

Ok, but why is there still a group called Moderator Group when you can really do nothing with it except change the stars, and the color? Seems silly to me By the way, I like the new blah code setup and smiles on the right when I post. Much cleaner. Great job Justin! |

I've often wondered this, it seems redundant, as Craig says, you can't add anyone to it unless you manually edit Ranks2.txt and then I don't see what that achieves. |
