I believe I'll start using this to edit E-Blah.  It's a very, very nice little app.

Hope someone else will find some use for it.

Thanks Justin, that seems like a really useful little editor.  I had been using the old dos based edit program (edit) simply because it tells you what line number you are on and doesn't wrap lines.
This program will be really good, I have set it as the default editor in SmartFTP and it works really well. (tools - settings - default viewer / editor)

Well, Windows XP Notepad can also show you the line number you're on and all.  It worked fine too.  I may still go back to it though, as this app doesn't have click wheel support.

I'm on win2k, so notepad is more like old windows.  My scroll wheel works fine though!
The Colour coding of perl scripts is really useful, it makes reading scripts very easy.

I will see how I get on, but impressed so far.

I'm amazed at what you're using to edit with, you must be very patient

I found this little gem last year, and it's glued into smartFTP, and anything I get to choose my default editor, Programmer's Notepad 2:

http://www.pnotepad.org/

Syntax highlighting (customisable) by file type, multiple tabbed windows, current line highlighting, selectable line-wrapping and numbering, and tons of other toys, but not overweight, bulky or obtrusive.

Yeah, I've never really liked IDE's though.

Okay, I must say I like the application.  HOWEVER, I saw a few things I just can't stand (long lines don't populate the scroll bar for some reason), among other things (mostly with color scheming with /'s, for some reason).  I wouldn't mind using it though ... I like the project feature of it.

Unfortunatly, Notepad2 has the same issue with horizontal scrolling.

Yes, the IDEs are dreadful. Seem to try to be too clever, and end up being harder work than just typing.

What is the actual problem you get with the scroll bar?

I don't think I've seen any horizontal or vertical scroll hiccups, but I use a mixture of fancy mouse/wheel/ball drivers.

Like in a web browser (or normal notepad), if you have a long document and click the wheel, you can drag it down.

The horizontal scrolling screwups are occuring when it's a long like and I modify it.  I have to click the actual arrow to expand it to the end of the screen.

I found that as well, you have a line in front of you that disappears off the right hand side of the window, yet the horizontal scroll bar seems to indicate that you are already at the extreme right of the text.  I just click on the text then hit 'end'.
As I was saying before, it is still better than lines wrapping to the next line, this makes things difficult to make sense of.

Interesting, I'm largely stuck on a laptop at the moment, so end up using the trackpad (keep forgetting to charge the wireless mouse). I tried editing some long lines and found that I didn't have the lack of scrolling referred to, and could still drag along to the end of the line before and after editing. Could be it's a hardware/driver issue, rather than the editor software.
