1. What version?
2. URL.
3. Do you have a {memberid}.bak file in the Members directory?
4. Do you have ANY .bak files in the Members directory?
5. Is there {memberid}.dat file in the Members directory?  If yes, what are the contents of it (view in Notepad; download in ASCII; paste results here).

I'm having the same problem on my board.  Two members have been deleted, one has been deleted twice.  They were both top posters too.  Also one of our admin cannot access his account.  It's not deleted, but he just can get into it.  Both of the members who were deleted made new accounts, but one was deleted again just a few days later after he made his new account.

This happened to one of my users today. But couple of suggestions to all facing the problem.

Make sure you backup your forums every week.

Say, if it happens to user no. 260 i.e his screenname deleted( it displays the number instead of screenname, like 260, guest user)

I think this is happening because for some reason his .dat file is getting deleted.

Replace the .dat file of member who lost it, in this case "260.dat file" from members directory (from your recent backup) in to  cgi-bin/members  using your ftp

and rebuild the post count using admin panel.

This should fix the problem for the time being. Atleast it fixed for me.

Lets Hope with more feedback, Justin finds the bug in future releases and fixes it.

What version do you have?

Make sure you use the latest version from the pit, as I've tried other measures that should solve this.  I'm not sure what causes it, exactly.

I'm using version 10.05.  Also, is there a way to reset the email registry?  The guy who has been deleted twice said he's used both of his e-mail addresses to register the accounts that were deleted.  So now it won't let him register because both emails have been used and he doesn't have another one.

Rebuild the Members List, and delete any of his old accounts.

Also, upgrade to 10.1.
