For those of you who were wondering (I was) to increse the possible length of a user's password open QuickCore.pl (in the Code folder) and look for $pwlength near the top. Change the 8 near the end of the line to the number you would like to be the maxlength.

Just encrypt the user passwords to MD5.

I do installs for $25 and upgrades for $20.

Justin can you elaborate on that please? This is a problem for me as my password and others are longer. The problem is that it lets you enter the password but cuts it off with out telling you. So when you go to sign in your password does not work.

If you turn on password encryption via the Admin Center, the password length goes up to 20 characters.

I had to limit passwords to 8 characters because the regular perl crypt() only encrypted up to 8 characters.  You have have however large you want in MD5 encryption.

OK but now if I go and set it to MD5 does that mean everyone is going to have to reset their password?

If it is at least five or maybe six characters long, it will work fine.  I know that six works fine because it has been tested over and over again

Not unless you're using the other encryption method.  But it's not really a "reset" they'll have to do, but rather a simple password change.

Well, it's really just a banner that'll bug them until they change their password.    You might could try it out on the temp board here ... just change to crypt() then change to MD5.
