I'm shooting for a mid- to late-August release date for the next release of E-Blah.  The new version will be one of the largest updates in E-Blah history.  There's many, MANY changes in this version.  A quick summary:

- E-Blah is FINALLY fully XHTML compliant.  Thanks goes in part to Ryan and Martin who's helped and pushed for standards.
- The calendar has been completely rewritten from the ground up.  The entire backend has been rebuilt.
- Member database has been completely rewritten, which will allow for further expansion of the system for years to come.
- Unread posts since last visit, which has been requested a good bit, has finally been added.
- Akismet spam protection is now a standard part of the system, which will prevent virtually all spam by guests.
- Major code cleanups
- Automatic image resizing on uploaded images (with dimentions configurable by administrators)
- Setup and upgrade scripts completely restructured
- New portal setup
- Notifications now have a "watch" feature (so you can watch the topic and not be e-mailed about it)

Among several bug fixes and other enhancements.  If you want to get ahead of the action, you can download the nightlies from The Pit.  Get ready!

I'm avoiding it right now...to much work to do, plus I'm working on the house again  I will probably get to it the first week in August though.

I've been working solidly for about six months averaging six days a week.   Work has slowed down a lil bit so I've got more free time now.  

Since I've been away I've been converting many phpbb boards to eblah... tried other forums like SMF, PhpBB, vBulletin, and Invision to see what sql boards are like for clients.  No matter how hard I tried to be unbiased, none came even close to being as easy to use, and feature rich as eblah (I'm glad to say).

My one stumbling block is MANY clients have vBulletin but JUSTIN HASN'T WRITTEN A VBULLETIN CONVERTER YET which I would dearly love.  Got about 12 boards waiting to be converted.

**cough** Justin?  Maybe for E-Blah 10?

Starting Saturday 12 August, I will no longer be "offically" adding anything new.  I'll be fixing bugs and getting the entire package ready for "ship" status (the nightlies will reflect this in the fact that they will have an entire installation packaged with them).  The version number for these will be P9.9 (while this next week will be P9.8x). Upon release on 19 August 2006 NEARLY ALL P9.71 forums will display a red banner at the top of their Admin Center which will ask them to upgrade to the latest version as their version is outdated and no longer supported.  This will be pushed to everyone (as the P9.71 forums have a JavaScript which checks their version against the one on the server).

After the user has upgraded their version, the banner will, of course go away.  It'll be put there to annoy for a REASON.  I've not even started work on how it'll look or anything yet, so everyone will just have to wait and see.    I may throw in a really sweet image or something.  It'll probably also link to my install and upgrade services, this forum, etc.

Sometime between the 18th and 21st, I hope to have a mass e-mail sent out to everyone registered on the forums.  This e-mail will make known the current version. I'll also try to post to a few news worthy sites, but where (if anywhere) it goes, we'll all have to wait and see.  This is the largest release in E-Blah history and I'd like for it to be big.  

ANY help would be MUCH appreciated.  Please, don't post about the new version (on forums or other sites) until it's offically released, as I'd like for people to reach the downloads page with the NEW version, not the outdated version.

Pre-releases have started today at the pit with P9.84.  They will be complete packages for NEW installations AND upgrades.  They should work fine.

I had a thought occur to me today at work, and I am sorry, I didnt know where to post this, but hoped to give you something to possibly mull over..... Let me add first that I LOVE using the Eblah forum on our website, it is so much more useable and feature packed, and easy to use for my visitors, and admin wise is just as awesome, and is SO much better than what comes with any NUKE installation and I finaly figured out how to install it myself ( not that it was at all hard, I was just cluesless for quite a while lol )

My Idea of what would be COOL, ( and probably a programing nightmare), would be in the area of themeing....it would be SO neat to be able to apply one theme to a certain board, another theme to another board ect.

What I am interested in would be  having a certain theme for the board index, and then when when creating either a category, or even better yet, when creating a new board, include what theme to apply to that particular category or board.

That is a top item on my " what would be really cool " list lol

Lash, I believe there is a mod on the mods board that should fix you up.
