[quote=admin]End dates will be there ... or should be.quote]
Actually, I was wondering about an end TIME - it would be great if events would show up something like this: Friday, March 30, 7:30 - 9:30pm
or if they spanned a couple days then like this:
Friday March 30, 7:30pm - Saturday, March 31, 9:30pm
I was working on a mod to do this but got kind of stuck because I was trying to store all the info in a separate file and was having trouble getting the data for some reason, but I was getting close.

This will probably be the final revision of the front end to the post center.
The backend isn't completely finished yet though. Event's will be able to span unlimited days -- up to 2 years, anyway. Events will have start and end times (like 1/1/07 at 5:00 pm to 1/10/07 at 6:00 am).
Events will be able to reoccur every year/month/day on the same day/weekday (weekday: such as every Thursday, or every year on the 2nd Thursday).
As of now, I've not fully tested the Monday week start. So it may not be FULLY supported. I hope to make it fully supported, though.
I hope to add a MAX amount of events per users that admins can set (so spammers can't overload the database). Calendar events will have an owner now. Admins and Calendar managers will be able to manage everyone's calendar. When a user is removed, so is all his events. If a user is de-admin'd, then when the event is EDITED by that user, he's event will be ONLY visible to that user (unless he is a member group manager). Member Group managers will be able to manage ALL group calendar events.
Complicated from my stand point? You bet .....

Let's say I make an event that occurs every week on Wednesday Night. Will I be able to go in and change one specific occurence of that event? For instance, if that event is cancelled one week, will I be able to go in and delete just that occurence? |

Sorry, not trying to make it hard. Awhile ago I thought about making a mod to allow reocurring events. I never really got into it because I knew it would be too much for my limited knowledge, but I did do some thinking about it. I realized there was two ways to do it. One was to recurring events be a single file (or line in file) that told the calendar to post the event every x number of days, weeks, or whatever. In other words, one event file/reference would control each of the instances of the recurring events, but this wouldn't allow for exceptions or changes to specific events.
Another way of doing it would be for the script to actually create separate events for each recurrance. This would make for a larger events file, but it would allow each instance of the recurrence to be changed or deleted without affecting the other events. There might also be a way to put some sort of code in the event file that told the script about events that were linked together so that if someone wanted to modify all instances of that event the script could do that.
After looking at it for awhile I realized what a major overhaul this would be so I commend you for taking it on at all and I'm not trying to make it harder on you. Whatever you do (and have already done!) will be / is exceptional! |

I was joking about the harder on me part. However, the repeated events will be able to have an end date. That should be able to do what you want it to do (as you can make an event start one Monday and continue until like a month away, then start it back up again after that by creating another event). |

If anyone wants to test it, feel free to. I'm trying to get the core cleaned up. I'm getting permissions all set and in place, so now users should be able to edit (includes deleting of) events (not sure if I'll finish the posting events yet tonight ). I'd really like it if anyone would test it for me. E-Blah isn't recompressed for the server until 3am though, so be sure to get it sometime tomorrow morning (after 3am CST). Note: there still is NO converter for the events. Your OLD events will still remain if you reupload an older Calendar.pl file, though. |

This calendar manager is the almost complete version (not much/any more changes will be made to it). There is a max of 25 items per page. This will be internally set .. The server version, ready tomorrow morning, WILL include the entire backend for creating new events. ALL permissions for new events/modifying events should work. There is currently NO "view" page for events. You can ONLY see them on the calendar itself. If you download it, PLEASE let me know if everything works! PLEASE note that admins/calendar editors/group managers can see EVERYONE'S calendar's in the manage calendars (GROUP MANAGERS can ONLY see their groups calendar -- unless they're admins or cal editors). Spanned events now use start and end dates, so there is no x amount of days (so don't try it ). I may make it so events are sorted by user/title (/date?/date of post?). Enjoy the early alpha!! I'll look for a May release date for 9.75. Purhaps a year after the 9 release? We'll see ... .

Here's a quick view of the new calendar view.
I've removed the disclaimer as it's now ready to be used I think. I'll try to finish up the pages soon. I'll also get a converter going sometime soon for those needing to convert to test.
