Can anyone help me with making a theme? I have seen one on a forum and I really like it. I don't know how to make them so I am hoping you guys can help. The other reason is I am colourblind so I can't even try to match up the colours!

That is the site I have seen the theme on.

Cheers.

I just finished making a custom theme for the SectionGWG Community Forums, so I might try making a similar theme to that black and yellow one that you linked to while theme creation is still fresh on my mind.

Now regarding the button graphics, that might be another story. But if I remember correctly, I think one of the colors in the buttons graphic pack used yellows. I would have to double check but that should be a fairly simple way to replace the default forum graphics to fit more with a theme based from that forum.

I will probably need the Forum Name if you want a forum graphic instead of a text one but I don't see you mentioning it anywhere in your post. Either way, I'll let you know how the theme comes out and keep you updated. Once you get the hang of working with E-Blah themes, it is not too hard to make new ones.

After going through some of the sample graphics packs I have found on here, there doesn't seem to be one that looks somewhat close to the graphics that board uses. The color theme itself is pretty easy to make a similar one but I might have to make custom button graphics so that will take me much longer. I still have to figure out how to setup custom images on the themes to call from the images folder without specifying the full url to the file to make the themes more user-friendly.

I guess you beat me to making a similar forum theme using that one website Martin. Oh well, no harm done then, although I will still make new forum themes from time to time. For starters, I was thinking of maybe releasing my button template that I created in photoshop while making the new forum buttons you can find on my Tranquillity theme used on SectionGWG.

It could be handy if I also get around and generate a new button pack. It would still be using the current look which I like, but use a fixed-width font such as Lucinda Console. This would provide a uniform look and feel for the buttons as well as allowing other users to create new buttons that would blend perfectly since they would be using the same font as I used for the graphic pack and button template.

Also maybe I will add a subtle dropshadow to the button text when making them and maybe try to see if it would blend nice if I add them to the buttons themselves. Although exporting graphics with dropshadows and transparency that are to be viewed again a backdrop online can be rather hit or miss regarding if they turn out looking good or not. Even for someone like me who knows how can still run into issues and problems making them because of transparency dithering. Too bad many browsers don't support images with alpha map support so you can easily have variable transparency effects that you know will be viewed properly. Don't mind me, its probably just the gfx designer in me rambling on again.

I tell you what, it's great to have you on board, I really look forward to seeing some of your themes, we could do with some more controversial designs.

Pretty good likeness from that source forum theme Martin. You seemed to capture the esence and feel of that over board and ported it nicely over the E-Blah. I was thinking of using those exact same yellow buttons when making my version and I like the simple yet tastefully done buttons with the icons surrounded by the rounded square.

I have one more button to do and I'll email you the theme.
Any $$$$$ you may generously offer, please send to Justin, wouldn't have the pleasure of creating the theme if he hadn't written E-Blah

If you find another then let me know and I'll see if I can knock something up for you.
